300nis? for the AKG?
you must be joking...
I own k270 - they were 600nis for me and that was a special sale. Of course u can also check k240 which are great also. With the amount u have to spend - u can buy the best pair for a studio for sure. Remember, headphones are bad for your ears - don't over use and don't hear high volume --- as a dj also.

Everybody has their tastes as far as headphones go - it's a very subjective thing that can only be done by auditioning lots of different kinds.
Personally I use only Sennheisers for studio work. I used a pair of HD 25 SP's for a long time, then recently switched to the top of the line HD 580's. Well worth the money if you use headphones a lot (which I do).

I bought a pair of AKG K271's. Extremely crisp and clean sound.
I can highly recommend 'em. Sennheiser HD 25 would be better for DJ'ing though. Sennheiser HD 25 SP is not very robust in my opinion, so I would go for something else.

For DJ purposes I'd recommend,
Sennhieser HD25
Sony MDR-V700DJ (enhanced low end)
Sennheiser HD25SP
I've owned all three, the SP's are very light and comfortable and featuring a simpler headband and a slightly different capsule design compared to the 25's.
I dont know what "pr0fane" means by robust, but the SP's are quite sturdy and all Sennheiser part's are replaceble unlike the Sony.
The Sony's are circumaural (cover the whole ear) whereas the Sennheiser's are supraaural (sit on the ear's). The Sony's are also a bit heavy.
HD25 Technical Data.
16Hz – 22KHz (-3 dB), 70 Ohms, Characteristic SPL 120 dB, Load rating 200 mW, THD <0.3 %, Weight without cable 4.93 oz. Cable 1.5 m, single-sided steel.
Sony MDR-V700DJ Technical Data.
5Hz – 30KHz, 24 Ohms, Sens 107db/mW, Load rating 3000 mW , Weight without cable 300g, Cable 1~3m coiled single side.
HD25SP/SP-1 Technical Data.
30Hz -16kHz (-3 dB), 85 Ohms, Characteristic SPL 100 dB (±2dB), Max. sound pressure level 120 dB,
Power handling capacity 200mW, THD 0.4 %, Weight without cable 115 g, Cable 3 m double sided steel.
I've never done any studio work so I won't comment on that. "Never argue with an idiot, they'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience" |

I would only ever use sennhieser headphones, I personally think they are great, www.futuremusic.co.uk have had a good article on headphone montitoring they reccomend sennhieser also. In terms of djing, I would use a different pair they need to be more robust and be able to handle louder volumes. However the industry standard is the beyerdynamic DT100's those funny looking grey ones |
