Hi

I've been doing trancemusic for a couple of years now, and I just decided to buy a Virus B within the next couple of days. In that case I have a few questions for you folks your there.

I have a ESI Julia soundcard, a simple Behringer mixer, Edirol PCR 30 keyboard and I'm using Cubase sx 2.

- How am I going to connect the Virus to my setup?

- How does it work with the outputs compared to a simple VST instrument i Cubase.

- I know that the Virus is well known for its classic trancesound, but is it good for basslines?

Thanks a lot

first off all i recommend to u to conect the virus directly into your sound card and the output of your sound card into the mixer.

you have to understand that the virus will sound differnt then a ordenary vst becuase it has it's own convertor's wich r great sound and full of low end freq wich you will have to cut when you record it into your sequncer.

Thanks. Yeah I understand that it have more "power" than a usual vst.

What about outputs? Can I have a bassline and a couple og synthe playing at the same time on each track ?

the virus has 3 stereo analog output so if you have six input's in your sound card then you can devide each midi chanell to a single stereo output or one mono.

but i recomend to you not to conect the virus to your mixer becuase it will damage the qulaty of the virus sound cuase you have a shity mixer (behringer)

The Julia has one set of stereo ins and outs, if the specs are accurate. So you can record one sound at a time. That's fine.           http://soundcloud.com/aeon604

One sound at a time? That is not enough for me ... does that mean if I want to have both a bassline and a synth from the Virus, then I need to export one of them ?

Go buy the update to sx 3, it's much better with external gear.

You don't need to export. The virus is 16 part multi-timbral and you have 24 voices available. That's enough for some parts if you don't use unison all the time. If you want external eq per part/fx/.. you'll have to bounce the individual parts.

If you can stretch your budget to the C you can do EQ per part, which is kinda useful, especially when you've got a behringer mixer.           www.dezma.be

Yeah the Virus TI is very nice.. But it's way too much money to spent to me I'll start out with the Virus B, and maybe later I'll upgrade..

Hey Zeyon .... I like your music, just heard it from mymusic! Are you using any hardware for those tracks or is it vst's ?

Pure VST's, sadly, but I'm more or less able to make the synths I want with Vanguard, Albino and Rapture (Mainly Vanguard), now I've got myself a Uad-1 DSP card, but the music I have at MyMusic hasn't been processed through the card (Ruby and Arya is 3 months old or something like that)..

And by the way, nice that you like the tracks, thanks.           //Zeyon.
