Well I think it's always better to stay with people you know, in my case I'm lucky and always have where to stay but if no can do and you have to pay for accomodation then i think that people that travel (especially psy trance travelers) have nothing to do @ posh hotel and would rather spend as less as they can as most of us are skinned and can't efford it.
SO, here i have a link showing 3 different HOSTELS (yes thats where travelers stay  ) where it would cost $10-12 for a night for your own room or even less for the dorm option if you're not so picky

Well I dunno your definiton of fun but i would advice to anyone who is in Israel to go see Jerusalem, it's a beautiful city and worth checking it out. and no need for guns oor non of that story telling. you need to be alert and make sure you don't go to the wrong place but all in all a visit to the holy places could be lovely (if you're into those things)

Well in the summer a gram of ice will probebly be the only thing you could find in Mt Hermon (The only Mountain in Israel that as Ice) as summer isn't the good season for snow.
Bottom LIne It's all about what kindda person you are and how & what you spend on money on.
I myself think that with a $1000 I could have stayed in Israel much more then a week and living nicely.
And i know it from mine and my friends experiencess
