Senario:

I make a few off-topic posts according to a moderator. But before he/she delete my off-topic post(s) a few people have already replied to my off-topic post(s). Then the moderator delete my off-topic post(s). So far so good and we're all jolly happy
But the various replies to my off-topic post(s) still remain in the thread. And by that the replies are also off-topic. But they do not get deleted. And now the thread become very un-balanced with replies to a post or posts that no longer excist in the thread. And sometimes it even paint a wrong picture of the debate and the off-topic Authors opinion and behaviour because the original off-topic post(s) are missing.

Request:

Fine you think a post or more posts are off-topic. Please read the whole thread from A-Z and then deleted the replies too. It's only fair and should be a rule.

Only good thoughts and warm feelings toward the very hard working mods

Why is there no reply from the mods? I make a serious post that's non offensive to anyone and raise a valuable qustion. And you do not even answer?

Because you're right... and because pointing this out to them makes a LOT of extra work for the mod team.

You do paint a simplistic picture though; replies to off-topic posts often contain text relating to the proper thread topic as well, and you seem to be suggesting that they should edit each subsequent post to remove references to the off-topic material. Do you have any idea how difficult and time-consuming this would be? Sometimes the line between on-topic and off-topic is very blurred too, which puts them in the firing line to be accused of deleting relevant material.

Personally I think deleting off-topic stuff is a bad idea in the first place, but then I'm not a moderator of this particular forum!

hmm ok

Well then maybe a little consideration of what's being deleted would be better. I still think that many examples show that once a person's off-topic posts are deleted it many times look like that person was the one starting all the trouble (fighting etc) because the remaning posts paint a very hazy picture of the debate.

Many times when you post something HandA it becomes clear the topic won't be balanced because there are many ppl who like to personally argue with you. Me, Voodoo and some others you might know.

So let's start from that, you will really think before you post if your words contain any "dual" meaning, hidden context, offtopic utopia... So noone will argue with you, and noone will delete your offtopics and noone will post offtopic answers to your offtopic text which will remain after your offtopic been deleted.
