there are many kinds of buildups, it can be very easy or very complex...
the most easy way is to make like someone already said a drumroll, simple and easy 16th to 32th with a velocity line going from 0 - 100
this is only one thing and it can be used in conjunction
Mostly a portamento glide is used, to indicated the buildup....
Play with Portamento in legato mod in subtractor, also try high attack and long decay, sustain and release.. play with the mod enevelope aswell and see how the pitch of the oscillators can be alterd for more highpitch madness....
best advice i can come up with right now...
i could probably come up with some better ideas, hehe.. ill try later..

With the portamento glide, anyone got any tips on what kind of patch works well. You think it would be straight forward but I've made a couple things lately with a simple glid and doubled up drum kick for the build up but the glid sounds like shit no matter what I do.
Everything about it it just junk, the tone, the dynamics. Maybe I should just try harder. Or maybe it just doesn't fit the song? |
