If u like worse music, it isn't worse for u.
For someone else it seems to be worse, but for the one who likes it it is good.

Yes, but as I said, a group CAN be, what you said in no way denies that. And in average, groups of people tend to do stupid things. Aliens land on Earth - what'll you do? Well, think a bit, prepare for whatever... BUT, there will be the groups of people looting, destroying things, shouting in the streets "THE END IS HERE!" and so on. And I'm assuming that one person can act as the group, or if he sees the group, he can also make a choice not to act in accordance to the masses.

Yes, but I'm not talking about bad tracks, I'm talking about the good ones, so your point is entirely irrelevant.

Yes, I don't like boyband-MTV music / Britney Spears / whatever music. I think it sucks. Do I say that I don't like it to my friends? Definately, I ask them to turn off the radio when it annoys me. When I'm at a party and everyone's dancing and there are good vibes, even if the music isn't 100% to my taste, I'll still dance and have a good time. Gave you examples both negative and positive, does that make me a monster of some sort?

As I said - if you don't use the word "genre" in why you like music, you probably enjoy music because of it's merits, and not because it's in your face all the time.
Four more or less irrelevant points.
Peace indeed. |

Aren't we talking here about the law of averages. I mean it is basic statistics.

First, I think you watch way too many Hollywood movies. Groups are slower to react, but when they finally do they are relentless and spot on. Angles the individual could not imagine are covered. I even think if you get a group of average Joes and a Super Genious... it could be a fair battle. The group can divide their learning experience, cover so much more material in a smaller period of time... but the bottle neck is consensus. I mean why are we social animals... because we survive better as individuals? Uniting in groups brings us strength since the dawn of time.

I think you are making a huge inference here. The issue here in not the collective taste of a group, but their access and interest in music. If it was by choice and ppl had access to all knowledge of music, then you might be surprised on the collective level of taste under your own tastometer. Now since we live in a capitalistic society and the group is contantly conditioned by an elitist power group to consume a specific type of product... Pick bilboard and get the first top 40 and choose you favorites... voila that is the reality for a lot of ppl, since their senses are contantly capitalized through the duration of their lifetime. P2P networks are not a real threat to sales for corporations. Actually every year earnings are higher. Now P2P networks are a threat for corporations in the sense that can change the way ppl think and their taste, as they discover new music and get out of the corporate grid. So blame the dumbness of a group not on its members, but on this ocult center of power who have slaved their minds to a vast array of attachements, and who create the illusion that this is the right way to live our lives. Consider yourself lucky. |
