within the next month i'm going to buy an access virus. i want the virus b, but i'm paranoid that the module w/ separate midi keyboard will have draw backs when compared to the virus kb.
i heard the keyboard is pretty nice on the virus kb. would it be a better idea to get the kb since i don't already own a midi controller? |

it really depends on your "work style"
I personally prefer the modules and racks since they take far less space and I also find it convenient to have my midi controller (which doesn't produce any sound) in front of me on the table and all the synthes and modules on a shelf by my side so I can reach them with ease...
so I guess your cons are pros for me...
what happenes when youve got 5 or 10 synthes... how you gonna place them and reach them?

completely logical issue: keyboarded synths cost more, modules/racks take less space and sometimes have their cotrollers not assignable, keyboard controller + knobs controller are assignable[ and can get into 1500 shekels - both], 1 controller device can fit many synths [including software]
now ... conclude what is better :) BOM n.b. what a geek i am. |

But if it's your first synth I think you should get one with keyboard. But it's just my preference, you do whatever you want. |

I second Mike here. BTW, The Virus kb's keyboard is great.

The Virus KB is a 5 octave I think which is relly nice, but the keys ain't got any touch feeling it's like pushing plastic buttons... if you know what I mean -
anyway, first synth, without having any midicontrollers, really should be with the keyboard, that way you can enjoy your synth much better!
I have the nord2 and its keyboard is really great - same as Qs actually...

Philip, the Virus' keyboard is good in comparison to other virtual-analog synth that are currently in the stores. It has great touch (of course its not a Stainway piano...), and the velocity-sensitivity is very accurate (IMO IMO IMO :))
