ESM is awesome, actually. If only it had an osc retrigger... regardless, it sounds fucking fat in a moogy kind of way. Love it.

ES1 always sounds a little thinner, but it's nice and clicky for certain sounds. Watch the envelopes; even add some attack if it clicks like crazy!

EXS 24 has good envelopes, and you can sample whatever you like in it. I personally have used ESM saws sampled through the EXS24 to great effect.

On another note, just got u-he ACE and holy fuck, that is a monster of a plugin for psytrance bass. Chunky and fat - just superb.           Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room. ~Kurt Vonnegut

And if you are going to use Logic's native compressor to compress the bassline, use the FET circuit.

Platinum is the cleanest, Class A circuits, VCA and Opto induce some distortion to the bottom end with fast release settings.

Also use the Channel EQ and not Phase Linear to high pass the bassline.

EXS 24's envelopes are "ok", I just don't think the resolution on the short values is big enough for tight basslines, but depending on the patch, you can find the sweet spot.

Peace out.

the first two albums and the trance africa express remix where made entirely using logic native plug ins. I have used ES1, ES2 and EXS 24 analog sampler instruments for basslines.
Having said that with the exception of the Etnica remix of Lunar Contact that I used ES2 for bass (cause I was looking that really plasticky rubbery tone that is well tight and defined in the bottom end), I haven't used Logic native synths for basslines in over a year.

Peace out.
