1 Who said that artist that makes psytrance isn't entitled to an income that will make possible his music making? Why all the time I hear this comparison of PSYTRANCE community to some utopic kind of world where there is no money involved?

2 There is money in psytrance as everywhere else in the world, wake up and smell the humus. And those artists that make music and also think about an income during the process of making are not heretics. Just normal ppl thinking about their lunch.

1 i never thought artist shouldnt make money just that reality bites...

2 goddamm where is that humus.... im still hungry...

so what i left is to play for love of the music.. or to find good humus place

You want to make a change? Do it yourself, if u have the will.

i do, and we need more musicians that do a change. and we need a platform. but most of all we need listeners and labels, which is the hardest part.

anybody ready to fat up the future?

Hey man you can count Colin and myself from malta on this project in fact we are putting our lives into it and have already something new! We thought that even if we are alone making something new we will do it cause it's our path in life! I wish you good luck and maybe we will me later on in life!

See you there!

Please call it something different than psytrance. There's not much psychedelic in Full On.

Call it whatever you like. I was just using a name so you'll understand what I'm talking about. And you did understand, even though you don't agree.

Anyway, I was in a party in a club with some friends yesterday.
The playlist was like that:

GMS
Astrix
Skazi
Infected Mushroom

You know what? Of course that the most important thing today in fullon music is the bassline. There is absolutely nothing else in it. The driving power on the floor is basslines and expected break structure. How can you blame the crowd when this is what they hear in the parties?
I think that the DJ was too busy feeling important (you just had to look at him.. god..) and proud of himself instead of actually looking at the crowd and noticing that everyone was a lot more happy when music with more than 3 channels was played (which was about 2-3 minutes).

Like someone said here, the DJs think they know what the crowd wants more than the crowd.

You know nowadays we don't even make any parties and we don't even go out much. We can't because there is no music to play so why make a party to play music that those not inspire me? Fuck it man life goes on we had some extraordinary good moments through music in my life and i am happy to have passed through such exstatic experiences. Now we make music here in Malta we are building our experience and now some really good gear, yes it's the only thing i have left out of all the Psytrance Goa experience it's were i can concentrate and put my energy into the music. Yes i do hope that one day it will make a difference, i do hope that our music will make people feel what we had felt in those beautiful moments and yes i know that it will happen eventually pretty soon. I am happy because even though it took so long to get here now i am happy to start my biggest dream! So man never give up and think positive work with hearth on what you want to change it can take years or even a lifetime but if it's what you have in your hearth then do it!

          Boom :)

All I am gonna say is that I went to a Kox Box gig a few weeks ago, danced me tits off and had a blast.
Chris Liebing is playing this month and I can't wait for that one either.
After partying 7 years in the UK, I am grateful parties are still happening in Greece now that I've returned home and given the hard times promoters had from the police and the stupid bickering between party teams. But thank God there's a party to go to, pretty much every weekend.
So I am happy

i see people here blame many reasons, xtc, money, artists, producers and everything else.
my two cents about this issue is that its the labels job more then the other reasons mentioned.

i think new artists aim first to release some tracks and gain recognition (which is very logical).

lets face it everyone wants hes music to be released.
but i think labels actually discourage new artists from going into new directions,

the problem starts (imo) when a new artist send somthing innovative (maybe i should use the word "different") to labels

i think most of them will recieve answeres like "its not what we looking for" "it dosnt fit our line" "not dancefloor enough" etc etc
and thus new artists are kinda forced to turn to the formula music cause thats less of a "bet" for a label to sign...

on the other hand artists which are allready based and known have a good chance to find a label even with a different style or somthing breaking into new areas and the problem here is that they are usually allready stuck in their own formula and hardly try new stuff
imo not many vetern artists go into REALLY new grounds, but the ones that do , do it goooood

i think the 2007 bigwigs album is a great example
this one is very speciel and unusual album imo, but im almost positive that if some unknown joe sent the demo with the same music he had real hard to find a label which will have the guts release it as it is....

Hey man u r right in the label stuff but the thing is that nowadays who really cares about releaseing on a label, i mean you release and album and the next day it's all over the internet on mp3 so why should you worry about releaseing a cd when almost nobody will buy it?           Boom :)

hey kontakt,
i think just for the promotion side
solid labels give you a lot of promotion, no one expects to make the money from the cd's but a solid label will promote you to the big festivals etc...

(i also think a net release wont give you that blue status thing, so obviously other people also make the Differentiation between a net label to a "real" one)

Quote Kaz:

"Ask for the music YOU WANT, not for the music others give. Buy the stuff that makes you go "holy shit, that's the most insane thing I've ever heard". Give the stuff that your ear isn't used to a second listen, even a third. If something sounds like something you already heard, it's not a bad thing to be bored with it - it's only natural, and if people will call you a snob for it, FUCK THEM, THEY SHOULDN'T TELL YOU WHAT TO LIKE. In any consumer vs. market debate, the only way consumers get what they want is by not accepting what is a decent alternative.

I care. I really do. Prove me wrong and show that you care as well."

Man i agree with this a lot, but people just get so fuckin pissed when you tell them they're playing cheesy forumlated shit. It always just blows the whole thing outta proportion.

From the promotional side, the music makes the difference as usual...I mean i wouldn't want my music promoted by some cheesy label nowadays i would rather promote it myslef the way we want it and grow slowly with hearth. I mean every major label had a breakthrough because of the music it promoted and of course lots of hard work i am sure but the fact is that without the musi there would be no label!
