From what I gather on here, Russian law permits this kind of thing so it's legal (but please, please someone tell me I'm wrong)... I think the best thing you can do is to be glad your tunes are being played out. Perhaps write a polite, humourous email to mp3hotfly.com pointing out that you're the copyright holder and would appreciate being cut in on any proceeds?
Oh, and if you know who spread around your unreleased tracks, stab them in the eye with a screwdriver.

my god, that's horrible... You will have to take legal action. Contact them first and ask them to pay you royalties or take it off the site... If they don't, sue them... But it's gonna be very hard if it comes to that. Are you affiliated with a copyright protection society? That would make it a lot easier... |

Come on people!?! Wake up, this is RUSSIA we're talking about here. Every western country for over 6 years have been trying to pressure their government to shut down these pirate music/torrent/warez sites to no avail. Do you think a simple letter/email is going to get you anywhere?
Mr. Squarepusher, although I sympathize with your situation, I recommend cutting your losses, keeping your unr music locked tight, remixing the hell out of the tracks that have been leaked so that they're salvageable, and forget this whole legal business. Believe me you are not the first man burned by their pirate culture and you won't be the last.
Also, I meant no offense to any Russians whatsoever, I'm just telling it like it is.
Bonne continuation |

Fregle that was the last thing that came to my mind, Russia is big wall concerning legal rights..
Even if it was in another european union country, like France or Germany, i think i wouldnt care much !!
My atitude is going to be a passive one !!:D
ppl can do anything in terms of riping of,so im not surprised at all !!
Like Colina said its good to see that someone is selling the tracks i have forgot!!
they have the courage to sell tracks with no name (LOL)...
I´ve sent them a mail telling them to choose a nice name for the track among other things!!
Im not even 1% pissed about this,im more uhh... astonished !!!

Their FAQ is hilarious
Quote:
|
# What programs are better for using while downloading?
We recommend using programs supporting re-downloading files at breakage of communication. For example, FlashGet or ReGet.
|
|
Can anyone say cheap linux box in some mafia basement with a shitty connection? I mean come on, they can't even pay for the bandwidth to deliver their pirated media?
Quote:
|
# File downloaded with low quality.
Sometimes it happens. Over period of time some files can get defected. Send us the information on a poor-quality file, we will fix it. Then you can download this file free of charge.
|
|
What happens? Aren't these supposed to be DIGITAL downloads!?! As in impossible to degrade over time? How are they going to fix a poor quality file rofl? Why not call their mycel friends to upload a fresh copy! Stat!
Sorry for the rant, but I can't and won't hide that russian economics and lack of respect for artists make me sick...

Oh cool, if this is the case (and not just slimy wiggling) then one can probably register with ROMS and get some Rubles.
Might be worth checking out.
