Listen to a favorite track of yours - do the same. Just to get the feel on making a flowing structure.

This is the biggest ever no-no you can do. Do NOT think about other people's music when you make your own.

This is how we got 15495619 GMS clones and 123794123 Ticon wannabes. If you want to be another one of these, then ignore what I just said.

Just trust your ears, trust your instincts, and go with the flow. It might not come that naturally at first, but eventually you'll notice that you make the very music you wish other people would make.           http://www.myspace.com/Hooloovoo222

imho the only way to develop instincts is to saturate yourself with other well written music , both in the same vein and outside

for me the only issue is whether you copy consciously or unconsciously

the meaning of what all of the people who told him to "immitate" is not to copy a tracks building just try to build like it for the learning of the building technics and to overcome this very hard step ...how to build your track..in the way to become an artists... a step that a man who has no musical knowledge may see as immpossible

from expeirence....

although i agree that this may ruin your creaativity and all of your will be affected from an artist or a certain track...but its up to the person i beleive it is not for sure this will happen

if u didnt understand which is likely to happen cause of my bas english...plz ask Q and il try to explain myself diffrently

Hello all!

I have recently reached a milestone in my journey into music, having spent a weekend coming up with some great loops and phrases that for once sound very good to me. I've got a good kick/bass combination, some leads that sit very well together, and individual sections that overall make me want to dance and that are in the same key.

But I've run in to a new challenge - arranging the individual elements into a song that is interesting and progresses while still sounding coherent.

This is new territory for me in many ways, I'm curious if anyone wants to share how they approach arrangment.

Does anyone else out there create individual loops and phrases and then try to find a way to put them together (like pieces of a puzzle)? Or do most people just start with nothing and as they come up with leads/loops/etc build the song on the fly?

Any comments would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

This issue was talked about in other thread allready...

my approach is, making different parts that I like and then finding a creative way to connect them.

for me its a long proccess that can take weeks.
but it works very well.           Crackling universes dive into their own neverending crackle...

this thread? http://forum.isratrance.com/viewtopic.php/topic/22313/forum/2

I agree, it was touched upon, but in a general sense. I was curious if anyone had any direct suggestions.

Hearing that it takes you a long time however, is encouraging. I was starting to get discouraged that I came up with SO MUCH material in less than 24 hours, but when it came to time to arrangement the entire process started moving so slowly. At least I know other people take a long time and it turns out okay.

Thanks for your tip! =3

You can always listen to artists you like and find out how they made the arrangements. If you have a nice groove going on, try to put it into the same structure someone else used. If it didn't work, try to find out why. After copying about ten arrangements you will have gathered a nice bag of tricks and themes on which you can vary. The idea is not to just copy, but to get a feeling for where the power of a track comes from. Good luck !

so you got your first samples ...
now you got to make them live into sound tracks : kick+drums, baseline, synth and effects will run independently but connected together with the timeline ...
no one will create an astral projection-like piece in minutes ... try with retro dance music or hip-hop first ...
a song is time ordered fantasy
