Hey guys!
I need some help from you guys that have more experiencein making psytrance tunes!
It is like that:
Since one year I want to produce psytrance tracks that makes you wanna dance...so I started 5 months ago with trying out what psytrance is all about...
so I got until a point(today) where I know how to make a good kick and how to use the bass line and how sweeps can be made and how a song should be structured.
But there is something that doesnt satisfy me...
When I am listening to Liquid Soul tracks, I notice that there are so many cool effects and glitchy and cutted sounds and noises that I dont know how to do!

So I really beg you to give me hinds how to do all these sounds because I dont want to use sample packs...it should be original!
And there is somethin more: please take me seriously and give me som constructive advice, because I have been searching the whole forum but there was not one thread that dealed with that concrete question of how to make this bunch of sound.
Okay that tune should be my reference in the way of the sounds:

And that is the first bit of my the tune that I am working on at the moment - so you get the idea of what I mean:

http://rapidshare.com/files/299112420/GoaTrance2.mp3.html

So I hope you can help me with that!
If you want I can describe more explicitly which effects I want to understand.

Thanks very much for reading!

Only Aphex Twin knows how to do that stuff. The rest just use dBglitch, livecut...etc, that does that shit for them, and lets them roll a spliff whilst its bouncing.

I'm also interested in getting this down. Those psychedelic one shots that run beneath leads. Very common in Cosmosis, Biorhythm, Dapanji etc

learn to manipulate audio samples

you'll be amazed what sounds you can create from a kick or snare sample with some processing           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

thats by far not what psytrance is about
so no surprise youre not happy
learn music - scales - notes - grooves - synthesis - cause thats what its all about.
kick and bass is kids game i can send you presets of your favorite artists to begin with...(and i did shared quite a few samples)

its in the brain not the gear anyhow... he is no magician.. like he says: (quite good for psy scene this days too)

Future Music: What pisses you off about the current music scene?
Aphex Twin: Too many sheep and not enough shepherds. Let's all sit back and have a long hard think, then make something different! We can all do it, surely?

you can learn alot by looking at each sound specifically. Think about their amp envelope, filter envelope, waveform, fm synthesis? And get to understand your delays, regular ones, filtered ones etc. Unwrap the whole track by looking at what each sound is doing, what the function is of each sound. Check out what happens every 1, 4, 8 or 16 bars. When are the breaks, when are certain sounds added.

For the different sounds it can help to just scroll through presets of your synth and stick with one you think has a good part. Then change the things you don't like about the sound. Change the filter, the amp or filter envelope, change the added fx, change whatever needs to be changed and when you are happy store the preset.

You just have to learn how to create sound by experimenting and checking out how others have done it by listening.

My advice would be to enjoy other peoples music, but don't use it to influence your own TOO directly.

I could never mimic 99% of the sounds I hear in other folks tracks, but if I take a little time and come up with my own that works too. Then once I'm finished if I leave a track for a few months and come back to it, I'll be quite proud of it.

Just remember that your sounds will always sound better to the people who didn't make them.

I was referring to the new stuff that automatically does glitches that would take 2 weeks to make with my old AKAI S1100.
I could sample sources without a computer mind you

Hi guys!
First I want to thank you all for your quick answers and all these good advices that you gave me...espacially the one on never give up and the other one on listen analytically to the tunes that I like!

Okay thank you but I have noticed that my request was written in a very complaining way...
So I would like to fresh that thread a little bit and I will ask more concrete questions, because I think my problem is just that I dont know how to reproduce some things...I mean with what kind of stuff I do this and that...

Okay I worked out some examples from the Liquid Soul Track:
I would like to know how to approach the following effects and how are they probably made:

0:5/0:6/0:20/0:34-0:36/0:48-0:49 - that build-up pad with that cool pulsating echo sound
0:11 - that sound like in 0:26/27
1:12-1:16 - that hovering build-up

In generall its that rythmic-pulsating-echo stuff and aswell that chopped vocal and synth stuff...
I really dont know how to start creating that.

By the way I am using Ableton 7.

I hope there some out there that have some solid knowledge about that aspect of psytrance.

Cheers!
