Review:

Alright, I searched the CD-Reviews, and obviously this one was missed by some of you, that's why I'm reviewing it now. Here goes: Track 1, and we're immediately going into dark territory. Some atmospherics and the kickdrum enters after only a few seconds. Chopped up bassline as well, and some samples from Final Fantasy (the movie). The samples are repeated often and in fact the whole song is based on them. Squelchy synth noises fly about and overall a nice groove. Track 2 has a lot more funk to it, especially in the bassline and percussion. We're again filled with the dark atmosphere and the synth squelches (synth farts as my brother so eloquently puts it). Mysterious tones and french samples in this one too. Overall, pretty good, nothing special. Now track 3 is one of these tracks that grabs you if you like this dark style of psytrance. Drives on and on, and this one actually builds up rather nicely. Track 4 is more like track 1 again, dark, kicking and full of these synth squelches. No build up in this one, just kicking all the time, just like I like it! (although build ups can be extremely good, IF done correctly) Track 5 is somewhat weirder and works to a bit of a build up again. Nice hi-hat work at the end. Track 6 is dark all the way again and has this thundering bassline that just won't let go. Get ready to move to this one... hehehe... Track 7 is also cool, has this nice little tune and goes on and on. Great track. Track 8 is cool again, builds up again and has this crazy finish with sounds flying all over the place. Track 9 is not an ambient track, but just kicks on... hehehe... It's a cool track with nice sampling in it. Bassline that rolls over you like a sea... and it builds up extremly good And ... the synth squelches. There are a lot of those in this album, so if you don't like it noisy and gritty think twice before you get this. Well, my opinion, at last... I think this album is absolutely worth buying. I bought it because I like my psytrance dark and hard sometimes, and this just fits that perfectly. Also, all tracks on this one are great. (That is, if you like this style) All lovers of Digital Talk should look this one up too, since it's not entirely un-similar to that one. In my opinion this is even better than the Digital Talk album, but that's just personal taste. So ... Great work from Hyper Frequencies here, this is for sure his best work yet and I'm looking forward to new stuff!! Get this if you like it dark, squelchy and hard...
