In fact in Vanguard you wouldn't use the LFO for this since Vang's lfos detune is only a whole tone i believe... you need a much higher pitch bend value.

In vanguard it is easy to achieve this sounds using the second envelope and the PITCH knob

just to make things clear.
you dont need to pitch bend, you also can sweep through frequencies with the cutoff point and set the resonance as you like it, for this the LFO of vanguard works well.

and dont forget, you are in the wrong section,
there is a BIG thread, and there you would find exactly the same questions.
and when ur totaly smart you even can find the vanguard soundbank in this thread with a preset for such sounds           www.soundcloud.com/orgytime

High res cutoff sweep does the trick but pitch bending sounds just more squelchy acid dripping through your spine..

Actually to combine filter sweeping + pitch shifting is the key to proper cosmic farting.

seems the best way is to do really detailed automation instead of LFO's ?

Think im starting to get the grip of it now

automation? too much work. the easiest ways is with (seperate) envelopes for pitch and cutoff.

Envelopes work as an internal automation, it is called "modulation". So if you set up correctly your ADSR stages you can get squelchy squeals to your taste... every millisecond counts

LFOs are another way to modulate your signal and they do the trick too... but other synths are way better than vanguard at this task. Play with LFO waveform, rate, range, random or s&h and stuff.
