Call it a liveset and they will be disappointed.
Call it a DJ-Set and they will be amazed.

SInce it seems like most livesets even is premixed DJ-sets you would not be completly out of line calling it a liveset.

Of course it isn't a liveset, but contary to rübe und luki i don't think people seem to consider to much how you perform the music.

My guess would be that people rather think it's amazing because it's called live even if it's a premade mix made on the computer.
Otherwise I wonder why there is so many acts touring around playing a mixed CD and calling it live.

Personally though I'd be more inclined to show up if there was no liveset advertised and only DJ acts.           (``·.¸(``·.¸(``·.¸¸.·`´)¸.·`´)¸.·`´)

live act + set that was what i was planning to do if i ever performed live

not only Skazi SD.6... i've seen more doing it. including Space Tribe... believe me i think it's the best way to perform live.

Semi-live set, many do it. It should be fine!

If it sounds good - it's all good, doesn't matter how you call it...

Ok, i'd call it a "Live PA +live DJ on stage" - looks good enuff on a flyer           >>> FOR SALE: Mac-clone OSX86 Audio Workstation <> Perfect computer for Logic 9 Pro <<<

I had a question in regards to Spindrift's comments and hoped that we could discuss this a little further.
About the premixed sets, what if you were actually doing stuff live as well, adding new layers, drums and the lot?

I personally am really big on making sure the energy of my songs change fluidly. I sometimes do not feel that the flow can be properly accomplished completely on the fly, but I also refuse to just push play and dance too... I like running a few vstis in my live set as well as premade synth and drum loops too.. I'll trigger them live from the keyboard, while I am making new sounds and synthlines and occasionally I'll fuck up and trigger a drumloop off time, but correct it immediately.
For me I feel that the best part about the live set is the new elements added in as well as the slight imperfections that can only be accomplished while doing it on the fly. But I still want my flow to be non-stop and certain changes to occur at the times they are supposed to. I have yet to really see a live act that was both 100% live and that I enjoyed better than just listening to a djset of their own tracks, (I really need to get out more...)

So that puts you at an impass so to speak, You want your live show to be pretty close to flawless, but at the same time you want to do more than just stand there and look like it's hard work fiddling with your computer...

I am a firm believer about having your set on backup just in case you have computer problems, (lord knows I have had those too many times) but I don't wanna do the laptop mime to a cd. I saw a couple of well established live acts do that once and it completely pissed me off.

As to the question that was originally asked, why not kill two birds with the same stone and say Live + DJ...

That way you are being incredibly honest about what's exactly going on up there and you can do whatever you want...           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

And i'm a firm believer that you can take back that backup cd with your set,
and replace it with a sample cd with some athmospheric noises on it.

That's what i did, and it's much more fun
but i didn't played any live PA's in last 4 years.

people, how can i call it LIVE when i play trax from different artists and only play loops and some trax from mantik?

the crowd would think i try to fob them with songs which are not from myself.

realy half of the set is from myself, and its getting more and more but there are trax from other artists left. and i realy dont want to close them out because some freaks invented useless boundaries like "live" and "dj".

so i think i will call it dj, anyway some will say "hey, how can u call yourself dj, you are using a notebook!?"
never mind, i dont care about people which hang in old structures.
