Hmmm, I used to do that when I started to play.
Now, you don't really need that.
There is already pumpy music much more Lounge orientated.
But...why not???

heresy!!
sin!!
die die die!!!

well, just kidding...

anyway, i wouldn`t do that, but thats pretty specific and based on experience.
once we started having chill area where i live, things were very amateur. some baaad dancefloor djs who weren`t good enough be on the main line up, started asking to play chill sets, even dough they knew nothing about ambient at all. those idiots started playing prog at the chill area, and soon it was considered a "legal" and "cool" thing to do. well, all i need to say is that it took a lot of time, good music and even blood (hehehe) to chill djs and chill people regain their space...
so, i do not recommend you showing them (producers) that fantastic idea. they might as well realize that progressive trance is more appropriate than downtempo in the beggining of a party, or dumb stuff like that.
not to mention that you can ruin a line up, oa drive mad the DJ that was supposed to play after you.

obviously, desconsider all of this if you play on very mature and long estabilished scene...
not my case...

also, 2005 was plenty of quality uptempo stuff, chillwise

@punkah
yeah man i totally understand ....a very unexpected perspective ,but cool ...its made me see prog.@chill floor as a totally different issue now ...i think even i would pass ...wouldnt want the chill scene to get canned before it even took off and as justin says "There is already pumpy music much more Lounge orientated."

Depends... if the track's mood fits into the set and has a general feeling of 'chilloutness', go for it.           Ut ameris, amabilis esto.

ugh, gross.....I can't stand most prog trance and would be totally disappointed if I started hearing it at my sanctuary, the chill area. Call me crazy, but i think full-on artists like Astrix or something sound awesome in a chill set when they're slowed down by about 30%; just make sure the master tempo is off so it streches out all the waveforms, producing a really cool (and hella bassy) effect.

but otherwise, I also agree with Justin that you could just get some really dancey downtempo stuff.
