Hi all ,I am having trouble making a story with my tunes normal i just let the inspiration do the work but i am not archiving my goals or max potential.. i have listened to lots of tracks lately and they all seem to evolve nicely/seamlessly i would say its a little easier to make progressive trance as you can continuously add new elements wich makes it progressive... I would really like to make a story out of a song
(Question: 1) how do i go about it?
(Question: 2) what are the thoughts you have before you right a track?
(Question: 3) Do i make 1 main lead and break it down into smaller evolving pieces and eventually add layers to the end
PS: i think to much and i try build a song in my head but its not consistent when working in the daw
Kind regards ant

Thank you ---- zero_the_hero
the bird and cat are sad for the duck --- me too
Ok i take it your trying to emphasize that music can be told like a story via rhythmic "emotions" or sounds that have emotions ..... ok cool,,,, Unfortiunatly i have never been a guy that can actually write stories i guess i am going to have to practice writing on a notepad mmmm
Anyone got any Subjects for ideas i am not that clever all i know is computers and programing those are the books i usually read ....... and anything else i get a mind block
A concept perhaps???
please break it down as variables if you can
Oh hold on i thinking of somthing
(part 1) --==intro==-- welcome to the song and first suspence befor the kick and bass
(part 2) --==Dj intro==-- kick and bass I am the kick and bass and i want you to move your feet mmmm
(part 3) --==Hello I must keep you going ==-- now move your hands
(part 4) --==keep on going ==-- now jump up and down and get readdy for suspense part number 2
(part 5) --==relax a little ==-- keep cool its getting faster and here comes the scary part RRRRRRR
Would you say i got the idea ????? hey guys mmmm ????

all you need is control-d
If serious its to complicated to answer for me at least as i am not that good at that part either. It is complicated for me to break it roughly like that. You should search for books. It might help you more.

You may benefit from studying structure and form. A good way to do that is to take a track you like and put it in your DAW and mark it up with markers/locators for each section and what is happening. Then you can examine the waveform and see how that relates to what you are hearing to get a visual "flow" of the song. As for transitions, I think that is something that goes on an individual basis, you wouldn't want to use the same transition every time so it really depends on the situation you are setting up in my opinion. Anyway, good luck. |

i dont really care too much for story telling in trance music, i listen to a track because it has good groove and rythem and makes me want to dance and dance. |

When i discovered goa music I was amazed by storytelling and evolving of sounds, than when drugs interfere there was everything in my head and I just needed to buy pc and start to make that shit
My first tracks sounded like shit, but they really had something original, something that I imagined, like bombing(that happend), I was so concered about fx or right emotions and story, groove was the last thing on my mind...than I discovered full on and my brain drained
Have you ever wanted to make track inspired by something, like overdose, than going to emargency, all that people you can barrely hear and heart is pumping again, everything is coming to you more brighter and finally you are there and bang, flashback what happend and sick driving part fx's like stutter voices, delayed, reverbed and whatnot, that machine that calculate your hearts bpm, rising kick sound that sounds like heart, slowly rising from filter

exactly, like cardinals said, just let go and let the flow do its thing.
i can't really explain it, it has to just come from inside you.

I have the same problem, but when it goes well, is like Faxi and Cardinals said, just go with it, if u think: here would go a nice stab, do it right there at that moment, don't overthink it, when the song is done, maybe then u work on some structure, feel like you are at a partie and jump around |
