you can never ever synthesise a didgeridoo because it is all about playing and circular breathing. it is not about the sound that you get out of your circular breathing. it is about the playing itself.

depends, you want it for leads or pads?
for dig type pads take a nice pad sound with subtle lfo movement, record it, then pitch shift and timestretch it very low (experiment) with some plug that is very smooth (mmm like say waves pitch shift G the graphic one). good luck.
why not just sample a didge?

Im with MOki here. You probably can come close to it with lots of synthesis and there are plenty methods or plug ins but the result will be always artificial.
Playing itself and record it or 2.nd choice- taking samples would be a better choice if you want a real didge sound.

I've tried it myself some time ago and got what could be considered close to a digitaldoo.
Oscillate low Square wave mixed a little with Noise wave with some LFO on LP filter. maybe some reverb. play around
I remember doing it with the FL studio WASP generator.

I once got interesting sounds by automating all knobs of bazzism with automatization of sends (phase knob on) with reverbs etc some parts sounds like some specific didge techniques hehe

of course i would pick a native aborigine master player with his 10000 old didge form his ancestors.
playing it and synthesizing it is totaly different stuff.
no need to tell the obvious.(its moving air like this or like that)
i am talking bout synthesis
if anyone wouldhave some ideas, advice or samples of your results it would be great people
aphex is great in those days it is close enough.
of course you can sample but i really interested i the synthesis area?
i will try your advices and see where it gets me.Would really apriciate some samples of your synthesis.
anyway this is what i got so far...
http://rapidshare.de/files/47748599/tribal_3.mp3.html anyway this is fm for overtones sound and another one for the low part.
that tooo tooo thing in the didge seems the most hard to take out cause it sounds so digital i thought about sine+envelope+distortion but it has some more harmonics in it.(that is the part i like the least in didge sound so i didn't put it)
i will try another one there is no one didge sound as i know all didges are different http://soundcloud.com/magimix-1/chilling-forest-whispers
Wierd shit happens :) |

1. find your aborigine master player
2. lock yourselves in the studio
3. start up your DAW & hit record
4. take the wav. file and destroy the hell out of it with effects, distortion, modulation
ehh j/k mate.. this one approach i would consider though.. maybe find some didgeridoo samples & mess with them see what comes out..
~Peace.
