try FL3, Cuebase 5 VST and Soundforge
(how's that for a replacement, Guy? ;-) )
other than that, read the thread and other threads in this section for more info. |

when i started making music, i also wanted to make music only with software (and i still do).
however... i was looking around for software to make music... i first tried diffrent trackers (fasttracker (dos), impulse tracker (dos) and mad tracker (win)). i was also looking around for wav samples to make my tunes (www.analog-samples.com / www.first-wave-music.de etc.) after experimenting with these trackers i had to determine that it is quiet hard to make tracks. you do not have alot of possibilities and setting up a track is very exhausting. i've read that infected is still using impulse tracker for some tracks (check our the interviews). after all i found fruity loops. it was just amazing what you can do just with the ts404. with fruity loops i learned what patterns are or how to use vst plugins / instruments. i learned alot about midi etc. i began creating my tracks with a mix of wav samples (ie. bass / vocals / effects) and vst instruments. to get vocals i was checking my dvd and divx (mpeg) sortiment and cut out the parts wit total recorder. after that i've editted the vocal in sound forge... i added delays, reverbs. while doing this, playing around with soundforge, i've found out you can creat your own bass in it. and so on and so on...
do not begin with the most difficult (cubase, logic, reaktor, reason etc.), start with the most simple... you do not need to make a track... just playing around with it. i make music since 10 months now and still do not have any finished tracks... its i am still playing around with software (especially reaktor and logic).
sometimes its very hard and maybe you think it^s hopeless making some tunes but do not give up or you will never reach the target to create your own psy tracks.
cheers pj |
