+1 . @psytracked.. i really dont understand wat ur problem is...

Ektoplasm has certainly made life a lot easier for a lot of people out here.. and i am amazed at its growth. I for one have downloaded quite a few quality releases from there. And he has strived to keep all this going absolutely for nothing in return which is realy commendable these days. @ Basilisk... keep doing wat u do the best and that is to release such good stuff.
I for one, am considering to send some material to u too . All the best

you fail to see the bigger picture and the opportunity that has been presented to us all.

It goes beyond just artists and their music, beyond labels and distribution...........THINK MAN THINK.

Look at where the world is going..........any move away from centralised control and power is a step forward.

I don't question Basilisk noble intentions.........but we need to look past the record industry...........we have the chance now finally to create a new model which doesn't encourage greed and unlimited desire for power.           http://www.whatacunt.co.uk/

Well.. i do agree in bits abt the normal model of the music industry and the issues it is facing now. An artist gets his recognition while releasing his material on a professionally signed label. Whether the music sales are low, or whether u like it or not, people will start respecting em a lot more , when they see that he or she has some value. Thats just how plain true it is and is an established media fact. All this happens with hard work and over a period of time and not in a fortnight.

And this is where websites like Ektoplasm and the others (i dont knw many but i cld state Cosmic Flower rcds etc.. im sorry if i missed others... but u knw who u are ) come into the picture. Wherein artists can promote their music and reach it to the mass without any extra cost, and not to forget, not limiting their creativity. This will inturn help them by people knowing abt their music and capabilities..... which would help them to go that next level.

Now coming to the point when the cd fails. Now what is the only option left? Vinyls....no.. coz it was discarded some time back. Then wat? Digital media. And thts what even a great artist like Trent Raznor, if im not mistaken, declared tht one of his upcoming album or an album in the future will be a complete digital release, embracing the future. Now the cd is slowly giving way for digital media. The idea of a new model is nice.... but what new model can u come up with rite now??           www.braindrop.in

I honestly don't think digital media will be taking the crown anytime soon. CD's always had, have & will always have their own charm. I for one would never shop the digital downloads way, i could just get the 320 or WAV in any case without having to pay a cent. But when i do want to support an artist/label/quality release and i invest money - i want the 'original', the whole physical entirety of the CD including artwork etc. etc. At the end of the day those who collect music will always continue to purchase CDs like before, despite the ease of a digital download, and i will be one of those

Yes. Not maybe anytime soon, but it is on the cards. Its just plain evolution. Its always been like that. Cd's replaced the vinyls, but some of the top djs in the world and others continue to use vinyls, for the sheer love and quality. But cds have replaced em completely. In the same case digital media, will also replace the cds sometime in future because it provides a lot of solutions when it comes to cost control. Shipping costs, distribution, fuel costs and a host of other things that many of todays label face. But all cd lovers will keep collecting them.

Now enuff of deviating from the original topic

if it was only digital download - everyone would be playing dj sets from traktor or some software ??

that just takes away the whole scene of playing on a mixer and 2 cdjs.

computer today isnt just for isratrance..
there is new amazing technology called "cd burner"
along with program called "nero" you can produce your own compilations at home from various tracks you bought in digital shops. if you make sure to buy only WAV files then u get full cd quality.. also u can use another amazing technology called "printer" , also with "nero" u can print some cover from your computer's "hard disk" (its the computer storage device where u can store pictures and music and anything , u can see it thoru clicking "my computer" and browse)

how does one ensure more shelflife for a cd?
how does one keep updated with all the new new music thts being released everyday
how does one keep track of all the new artists

these are the issues which are bothering me, psytrance has become wht it shudnt have. Too many new djs, new music everyday.... reducing the shelf life of cds, and creating higher redundancy.......

unlike rock, or heavy metal, i dont see tracks which are played over n over... its all about new music...
Point is with such rapid expansion, n growth in the music, we donot have loyal music followers, and its difficult for a scene to sustain without strong loyalty from the fans.... thinks its time to slow down...

Dont you think so??
