How to setup midi with my Virus and Nord Rack?

For a long time I had my keyboard connected to my Virus midi in, which midi out then went into my Nord's midi in.
This worked fine, except for the part that no midi out signal is going from my Nord back to my Virus.
So therefore I cannot use my Nord's buttons to control any midi cc data within Cubase.
So I figured that if I connect my keyboard to my Nord's in and it's midi-out to my Virus midi in, I could use my Nord's buttons and such.
But now for some reason my Virus isn't receiving any midi data from my Nord.
What could be the reason for this?
Is it maybe not possible because I would need a midi thru port on my Nord to send midi to my Virus?
Seems a little odd, as it does work the other way around, with my Virus sending midi thru to my Nord without having a midi-thru on my Virus synth. |

No, nothing comes thru when I play a key on my kb.
So I'm sure I would need midi hub to get me going. |
