How to setup an external effect unit on logic?

Hi there.
I'm new on logic and for this reason have problems in very basics of the DAW.
....so couldn't find the way through Auxiliaries, buses, sends, returns, etc..
If someone is available please explain how to setup a hardware effect/dynamic
processor unit as send effect and insert in logic environment.

Hi monno,
Thank you very much for your time, the link and the tip was enlightening, i thought it might be like cubase that you have to create first an external effect and then add it as send or insert.
Do you also know if there is Real time export in logic like cubase? Because i use to real time export in cubase in order to use the external effect unit in other sounds and for the synths as well instead of recording them.
