This is the way I use and it works very well... I got it from the traktor forums.

ok. first of all the assumption is that the drums are electronic, and therefore sequenced somehow, so there is no drift in bpms. ok. also it is assumed by me that the songs you are trying to beatgrid are all not in a odd time signature. if you can tap your foot and count to 4 or 8 or 16 then good. lets move on. ok. go throughout the song and place cue markers in places that you are sure are on a downbeat. if you are tapping your foot to the beat then make sure that it falls on this. after analyzing the track its kinda easy to skip forward to somewhere you know the music is gonna change and start the track again and put a marker there. make sense? good. lets move on. ok. go back to the beginning or like where the drums come in or something like that. change this cue point to a beat marker. ok. this is where its easy to get lost. the easiest way i have found to do this part is to start the song playing here and watch the waveform while under under edit clicking plus or minus on the bpms. the tapping works really good if you wanna tap to the beat for a while and get a nice approximation, but after a while you will figure it out real easy. oh yeah. and another note. most songs are going to be either ending in like .00 or like .50 or something like that. for the most part that is. everything seems to fluctuate for some reason though. get a beat grid close, start it at the beginning, and watch it as it goes through the song. once you get good at this, you can start to scroll through to the end of the song and just check the last few bars and see if its right and its usually right on. good luck. oh yeah. once you are done make sure the bpm is locked and after you beatmark everything to save it to the mp3 unless you wanna lose it all if something bad happens down the road.
