Hello,

I want to ask you how to produce this kind of creepy liquid sounds.

http://www.mediafire.com/listen/1hopq5omtwmnz4w/Son_%C3%A0_refaire_loop.wav

This is an extract from this psydub track:

I guess it sounds like saw, and that there's a LFo, but i can't obtain this special timbre, this rough grain.

I've heard that i have to set the LFO on the oscillation frequence. But what does it mean?
Which oscillation frequence?

Thanks a lot for your help!

Hi!

These sounds are so much fun to make, and easy to get lost in them

To say it out straight out simple, LFO's on the OSC pitch and filter frequency, with a really prominent delay (having a lot of feedback too).

Breaking it apart, the delay is obvious, so place a delay with the mix from 35% to 50% and feedback from 25% up to how much you want it to go.

Next we need to make the sound, and there's many ways of getting this. I think these sounds are saw wavs, so start with them (detune them). To get the "stuttering" effect, there are many ways: I've done it by playing really low notes (like C0) and using the pitch bend to go way down -24 - you start hearing each transient (is that correct?) play individually (this is the long intro effect on my tune Guacky), and automate the pitch bend (making it higher will make the bleeps faster). Also, you could set an LFo on the pitch, so this effect is automated. Another way could be using midi notes, so set you Amp envelope with no sustain and a short decay, and use say an arpeggiator to make each bleep, automating the arpeggiator rate. Also, a square LFO on the Amp while playing really long notes can do this too, and you'll want to automate the LFO rate. Using a sampler, you can have a sample with a bleep and some silence, and you can use the sampler loop functionality to make it repeat, and automate the loop and point to make it faster and slower. And there are many, many other ways.

Last, before the delay you want a filter. an LFO on the filter frequency will help the sound move, and I'd recommend a BP filter.

Hope this helped.           Super Banana Sauce http://www.soundcloud.com/knocz

Hello, thanks a lot for your advices !!!

I've made some tests using Operator, Sylenth, and Albino, and the results are rather convincing...I also add some FM to the sounds in Operator.

I'll post some sounds at the end of the week!

Thanks again!           http://www.myspace.com/roboterkommtzumir
