Stoycho i think he meant to play Live Act and not Mixing ( Dj) u know !!!
U can make it if you have very powerfull Pc and quick navigation in mother program ( Cubase , Fruity , IT ...whatever )
BUT is to lAME , BTW - many French artist workin with software and syntis only so if Talamsca or Eclipse can make it so you will too
but if you meant by live act as Dj'in so get Reaktor or BPM studio best soft to mix , but it's too lame
and if you want to understand better what is live act ask some artist there aka BLT , Psysex
or others i believe that they made live performance before .... |

[b]Very powerful[/b] computer, if you want it 100% live. It will need to support all VSTi's and effects you have. My AMD 900Mhz starts making problems (clicks and pops) when it's at 50% cpu usage. |

Mike, it's not yer AMD makes pop's and clicks - and it's not even the delta -
it's the cubase! heh
about the question, I don't understand why live can you do without a synth? moving mouse? or... hitting the PC keyboard ?
it's a silly idea - the whole point in live is tweaking a knob and playing the synth! imho :)

U probably cant play live just with a p.c!
Like philip said- u need the feel of a knob-turn 2 play live (and just playing)...
The minimum u need is a controller keyb` wich arnt that expencive (500-1000 sheks` should get u 1)...

Well... you can do like one friend of mine do it... he uses Frutyloops with 90% of the music and one Yamaha keyboard to put some elements... sometimes he can play something in computer... but not in all the musics, it's something impossible (?).
I'm a producer too, but I've never taste the idea to do a live act... =o) maybe in the future... |

to "play" "live" with a PC + Windows ? no way !
i want to see your face when you get your blue screen on the stage...
but, with mac it is possible... a good G4 with all the software and memory you want - is a good idea.
if you know how to play, you simply play your VSTi's via the logic/cubase/nuendo live.
but i wouldn't do all this: i'd hire a real synth for money [from halilit/kley zemer], so the base track plays from the box, and the live leads/solos + slides/fx are played live.
