hi there,
i'm trying to realize something to play a bassline sequence via MIDI keyboard.
for example : for a kick/bass pattern like k-b-b-b i want to play the bassnotes (b-b-b) in the key pressed on my MIDI keyboard in realtime!
i'm using VB-1 for my bass so unfortunately theres no arpeggiator to draw a step sequence e.g..
anyone got an idea to solve that "problem"?
i'm using Ableton Live 8! Maybe there's a tool for that????????

just turn down the tempo (bpm) to 1/2 or something...you can still edit the notelengths and velocities afterwards... |

midi arpegiator .... and setup the arpegiator as u would in the midi sequence.... so if u keep the notes pressed it ll do the BBB as u wish.... now if u realy want to pres the BBB you gotta have the quantize turned on and be real quick in the fingers lol or slower the bpm as brain train said ...

I remember Propellerhead Reason having a function called "Quantisize during recording" which seems pretty cool. Still would have to play pretty fast... Im not sure if Ableton is able to that tho... |

well like Trevon say, you can use a arp in ableton and experiment, but a gate in a step seq kind of way would be the best so you can skip the first beat

Yeah, ableton has record quantization as well.
I can see trying to tap out the bassline in slower groovier music maybe, and definitely for leads and stuff like that...but for kbbb psytrance basslines? Piano roll all the way imo..

thx for the answers so far!
i'm just trying to give more variations to my tracks esp. for bassline changes. a MIDI keyboard may be very helpfull i guess.
the MIDI editor is not a very good inferface for such stuff imho.
... man, searching for that kind of free-vst for years now
thx!!!!!!!!!!

indeed, a great freebie
if someone have any doubts on how to use it:
1. a midi channel with stepchild
2. another midi channel with the synth/or sampler, receiving input midi from stepchild. that's it.
