It is different for every track... not all are structured the same.

if you get easily frustrated don't take it up is my best advice.

A lot of the older goa trance I found hard to learn to mix as it was very varied in bassline/key/melody/kick patterns etc.Hence why a lot of older mixes had lots of fading outro to intro than beatmatched but now with digital mixing and higher quality hands on mixers it's a bit easier.

Know your track super well. It's all about the drop. Drop it in the right time & you have a great mix, mess it up and it's train wrecked and with older Goa it's really noticeable.

Practice is the biggest thing, like anything to do with music, time & practice is what it takes. It was 3 years of home DJ'ing an d spending time wiht other DJ's before I ever considered playing out and even then it's kinda weird.

I remember I stopped it for like 3 years for various reasons, then got offered a slot to open on new years day at a free beach party. I did an hour of psy chill into old Dragonfly morning psy trance & having all the revelers who were either still on their buzz or having a major come down made it a weird re-reentry into the dj arena. now i play only drum n bass, chill out & house music as I got bored of the psy scene           I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy!

To be authentic you are only allowed to use mini disk or DAT and you have to limit yourself to outro-intro mixes

Yeah coz now a days it's not about track selection or the journey, it's only cool if you can beat match           I hate you, you hate me, we are all so hap hap happy!

It's only cool if you can beat match *without using evil, creativity destroying software that sounds like shit.

Fixed that for you            If you want to make an apple pie from scratch...you must first invent the universe

Yea, it's funny.
Once people started using Traktor, the oldies found a reason to learn how to beatmatch to stay "cool". Too bad they found it 15 years late.
