hi,
i would like to start the one and only "how to" helppage about mastering your psy tracls. this could be used as little tutor and higher up your skillz:
EQ:
1. EQ on Percussion:
-Equing is like building a puzzle. every percussion in your drumset fits together and there is no overlapping the other instruments.
there are many ways to go for gold, just use the simplest i know. start with your bd. use tricky arrange first, so there is no overlapping by arrange. after that do low/hicut to all percussion exept the bd. if you use samplepacks your cutting must be harder, because some of the samples are ripped our of tracks, and are also compressed.
2. EQ on synth:
Equing on synths is not as hard as you know. You should remember: low freq is comming from your Bass & BD. Just do some tidy cuts to the freqs. It is no problem is some synths sounds a little thin, trust me, in the mix it will be very cool. Never listen to samples alone, just look what it is in the mix.
This is just for EQ cutting, not for parametrical one. Most i use for this UAD Cam, SonoxEQ, Waves. Thats all, but remember if you need something speial, you can test a lot of EQs. )
-------------------
What is about you? Anything to tutor? maybe about synth compression, lead seperation or stuff like that?

Hey ReEto as you probably already realized, what you are writing about is the Mixing stage ,not the mastering stage.
I wouldn't agree on eq'in on synth( or whatever) is just easy.It is the art itself to succeed with a beautiful mix as the result and eq is the very first weapon for it.Or the most important better said.
The more tracks you have the harder it gets.
..this topic could have potential ,let's give it a chance guys.
Best is to close your eyes and mix blind IMO.
Just move your hands on the potis or mouse and judge just by your ears ,not cause of some numberes you maybe have read somewhere someday.

@timeTRaveller:
ok, i can also write about "mastering with sadie 5 station".
i just wanted to start one thread where you can find some short information! I dont need anymore since i do mastering since 15 years. )
i often be asked what to do. the EQing is just a hint how some of you may write a little tutor...
if there is no correct feedback, its ok. then noone will share his work, or noone has any questions.

instruments can overlap and minimalistic aproach is kind of best . just don't overload with too much on the same frequencies.
mastering has a different aproach and you should get your mix as flat as you can and add only small and wanted amount of character and color to it according to the "sounding" you'd like to have.
It is about trying to fit each track to each speaker and every speaker is different.

thnx for your input....
although you didnt said anything that hasnt been said 200000000000 times already in here.
this is the basic noob info and its not correct by 100% this is you approach towards mixing ( and not mastering as your title states )
i have sound overlapping... i dont cut everything exept kick and bass just the ones that need to be cuted.
you can fit alot of sounds that are bass heavy with cleaver panning.
music mixing has no rules to follow ( a feeling that is lost cos most of productions i hear lately have a very sterile and bass light production )
be fat... even if you lose some db and even if it doesnt sound sooooo clean.
be fat and dirty make more music that punches the stomach and not drills the chest and ears!!
where are the good old xdream days?????????

I have noticed that as well. In order to gain the clarity most new releases have much of the low mids needs to be cut out of sounds. Most psy everything sounds high passed except the kick and bass. Lots of nice leads have to have some meat on the low of them or they dont sound right. In goa the LPF was used mostly now it seems like we've switched and its all HPF
