As long as I understand he is not talking about Shepard tone but about a standard pitch riser created using overlapped long notes and legato settings... very used in techno.
The actual Shepard Tone is:
...a sound consisting of a superposition of sine waves separated by octaves. When played with the base pitch of the tone moving upwards or downwards, it is referred to as the Shepard scale. This creates the auditory illusion of a tone that continually ascends or descends in pitch, yet which ultimately seems to get no higher or lower.[1] It has been described as a "sonic barber's pole".[2]

Olá JOKA! Always thought Alienn did that synth, i´ve tried on albino and basicly started with a single sawtooth osc1
Matrix:
LFO --» Cut off filter
LFO --» Symmetry
Resonance
And Pitch rises
Now sounds really good for me but I thing that have to sound more punchy to create a fast pattern notes, sound like the envelope are covering the notes.
Sorry for my bad english
Puxa JOKA! |

Well since giving out the synth's name is just not enough I share with you my attempt at the hitech cheese sound:
http://www.mediafire.com/?2x9udp9k9r7dmej
It's a Sylenth1 (v2.2) preset that mimics the OP sound.
Perhaps it can be further tweaked for more precise result but it does the trick. Pay special attention to portamento settings and mod env2 which has a long attack to pitchAB.
Enjoy! |
