tip for this style: lots of 7th chords.
making those dirty sounds is an art. get you out a simple synth and start with a sawtooth and add a few more oscillators to fatten it up. of course a good distortion unit. detune some of the oscillators. if they're all in unison it wont work out right. some of them are high pass filtered depending on the sound. eq it to pull out the rough upper frequencies and notch out the frequencies you dont want in the sound. then compress. actually it makes better sense to eq after compression i think but that'll get you started.
sawtooths - multiple oscillators, detuned, 7th chords, distortion unit, experimentation. one really good unit is the reason scream overdrive unit it makes some great grimey sounds for drum n bass. i stay away from reason just because to rewire it is a hassle to use the few useful tools it has.

when try to make something sound like this, i say try because it's really fucking hard to get something just to close to what Spor or Noisia do. i use 3 different channels, with different distortions and reverbs, then the art is to crossfade the same sound between the channels and send all channels in a bus where you compress it all to max.

Usually a combination of distortion and bandpass/high pass filtering.
With distortion use a Virtual guitar AMP, and turn the cabinet sim off. Gets the job done real easy. Usuall have too sends with an eq and distortion, one low and on high. Cyanide 2 is cool too, to get that rough on the edges sound.
Some of the sounds are almost "cinematic" with a super clean EQ.
There's some tracks that combine distortion and lots of bottom end in a brilliant way.
I really would like to know how...

i love these kind of leads they use in dnb , it s just amazing what they do ,the hard thing i think is to get so dirty leads but that sound so good and well produced at the same time. to make something sounding dirty is easy, but to make something dirty as hell and fucking well produced is just brillant imo.
about the style if you wanna give it a try you should, it s very different than psytrance , you could do a tune with a distortion on the master for example, something you can t think off with pystrance, it s more open production wise so i find it more fun to produce.
