Hey forum, well, so i have been working around a lot with kick and bass, and i noticed that in one ofmy favourite tracks of all time, they have a really heavy and warm bass.
is it just to use a sort of distorter? i have tried the most types, it sounds even like there are two layers at 4:03

i'f someone finds out yell it out loud, i believe we all would like to know this answer.            http://soundcloud.com/li-fe

I said I like it dirty, not muddy.

Thanks, i'll try to work it out when my mac gets repaired. Would i need a specific program or VST for that instruction?
mainly i use THOR in Reason. I cant work out Logic yet, i just dont understand it xD           http://soundcloud.com/li-fe

every vsti will give u a slightly different result...

any way take a regular sawtooth select a lp filter adjust the eg to 100% take the cuttoff to minimum then take all your attack rel settings down to minimum then rise the decay...
i usualy make a short decay for that plucky sound...
play with the sustain(for this base it is up just slightly and the base is low passed) and turn the eg down change cuttof point... amp env...drive... some eq ... and walla           http://soundcloud.com/magimix-1/chilling-forest-whispers

This is how I would make this bass:

I WOULDN'T, I'D MAKE A NEW DIFFERENT BASS.

I'm not far away from making it on my newest song i noticed.

I usually lower the frequency, highten the resonance and play around with the drive and distortion amount when i make the bass, but i'll try to mess around with the decay and sustain.
Usually when i make a bassline i want it bouncy, and maybe a tiny bit plucky
i'll post my result when my mac is back from repair -.-"

stupid chargers, couldnt even live longer and one and a half year. and my keyboard as well.

you know, not everything thats new and different, is cool/good

I do it my way ofcourse, its not like i copy others, i always give my songs..
uh, well, i'd like to call it my own touch.

though its most probably just because i lack experience.

i think its funny when people ask "why would you like to make a sound thats already been made?" its just like asking "why would you use a guitar to your songs, they already excist."            http://soundcloud.com/li-fe

Yes we are sick of people telling us to craft new sounds... that is obvious and will come with time, why don't you limit to help answer op's inquiry.

BTW, use very little or non resonance at all and use synths with snappy envelopes (cronox2, slyenth1, etc.).

boom

you're comparing a sound to an instrument.

coming up with cool new ideas and new techniques is how you stand out from the rest isn't?

95% off psy trance sucks cock cos its all done the same formuliac boring way.

copy whoever you want mate. lol

Thanks bud, What DAW should i use? could i use those two in Logic? i have nearly opened it, i tried to make a bassline with the ES1,

it sounded quite good, but when i was gonna distort it, i just re-opened reason and did it all over again.

its so pathetic of propellerheads to make a program that can't use other VST's.

but its also quite pathetic of me, not to try harder i guess.

Dude, in my opinion ditch reason, get a copy of ableton, and watch this video:

full hour of intro to all things synthesis, music theory, and actual workflow done by a certified teacher who also plays out a good bit. Many more hours of tutorials on his web site.

the kick bass don t translate well here, dunno if it s the room but it sound a bit strange , to me it sound like es1 or i guess you can get close with it , the attack can "break" like that

i was thinking ES1 as well, with some sort of distortion and a bit high EQ
i'll try to work something out.

is it normal to add Reverb to Fullon basslines btw?            http://soundcloud.com/li-fe
