What i hear:
Sawtooth wave, maybe also a sine wave for subs
a tiny little attack
Long sustain
1/5 of the decay knob is turned.. as far as i can hear
It also seems that it had a fair high cutoff
and glide is turned on, the key it to overlap the low bassnote with a high one
and then there's been added a lowpass filter to make it subby and warm.
I'd absolutely try out the ES1 for this if you're on a mac using logic. If not be sure to have a synth with glide
also remember to have just a little of it

I said I like it dirty, not muddy. |

oooohman. I like that bass Smooth-like.
I'm gonna try to re-make it once i get out of the shower.
Damn, this whole song is smooth man. That bass resonates in you and keeps your whole body in the groove. So beautiful.
Really does sound like a Shpongle bass though, and the drums are similar. Then there's the gating. Still love this style. -------OH it's Ott. This guy is one of the best ever.
I think there's a square wave in there keeping the lows, filtered down with a sine and/or saw.

Can't see the video posted as I'm at work..but if it's an Ott bass....Ott posts sometimes on the psymusic.co.uk forum, though under some silly name. At some point, someone posted a Hallucinogen In Dub track and asked how to do to the bass...Ott replied with the exact method
He is fond of mixing in a sawtooth and a square together. He also bounces his basslines and compresses and EQs them around 8 times before they're done...to bring out all of the frequencies and to glue the saw/square together. Or so he says.
I just prefer thinking that he's made of magical win juice and he plucks them out of the ether. That way I don't feel too bad when I try to use the methods he describes and utterly fail.
btw, which Ott track is it?

i've been trying. for about. 1.5 hours.
The thing is that, the highs are low, but with cutting them with EQ or with LP filter, it doesn't sound right.
Wills, is there any way you could find that thread?

Obelizk I would if I could but for some reason psymusic.co.uk is on my company's web filter? but isratrance and kvr and...ebay arent? wtf...
His name on there is like....Sir something something...the thread in particular I'm referring to might have Hallucinogen In Dub in the title...the OP of it was definitely requesting info on a bass from that album and then Ott just chimes in and says exactly what VST and process he used.
Will try to find it for you when I get home

Sounds very nice
And it also strikes me as very moogish
Sounds like square and saw yes...
I would experiment with both the MinimogueVA
http://www.home.no/gunnare/downloads.htm
And Novation V-station, it has some very deep bass
Also just to give a shout out to Asynth
http://antti.smartelectronix.com/
I bet the moog emulation will come very close
Very nice track indeed
