Heyhey, i'm having a little problem with the bass here, what i want is to make this pop out more clearly. When i highten the cutoff or sustain it just starts clicking, same with the EQ, i have tried both multiband and normal compressors but it sort of fails, i'm clearly doing something wrong here.
i made it pop out just a little adding a tiny amount of overdrive distortion though
i'm basically going for a rubbery ish Fullon sound!

Heavy EQ, whilst avoiding the muddiness of 300hz and then add a multi-band compressor/expander, to flatten it to a balanced level again.
There are also plug-ins like Maxx-Bass, XBass4000, that can boost harmonics; yet your needing upper harmonics to make it sit in the mix, as well as lower harmonic enhancing, whilst maintaining the punch. www.wizanda.comwww.soundcloud.com/wizanda

normally its in the envelopes.. just take more time to understand and play with the envelopes! you can get better from within the synth patch already..
besides that though, if you want some more dynamic plastic rubber sound i highly recommend:

Hahha thanks! both posts were useful to the fullest!
and i wish i could get my hands on quadrafzz, i hear people say its an EPIC distorter for psytrance. Too bad i'm using logic kinda, tho i get to use the ES1 for basslines. just need to understand it. I sort of like the plastic'y sound from it.

listening to the soundcloud clip, the bassline is really loud compared to everything else, you want it to come out more?! by the way, try making the kick shorter.
If you want more harmonics present in the bass patch, try increasing the ADSR-->Filter Cut Off modulation index, before you spend any cash on "exotic" plug ins and for the bass noets to pop more, back the attackof the compressor off to about 20msec, allowing the transient of the note through un-compressed, and having the compressor slamming down on the "body" of the bass.

Yeah, i like it sort of loud. Its more my style, and it worket making the kick shorter, by cutting it a bit it also allowed me to highten the volume and let it punch a bit more.
Also the compressor tips was epic, thanks for the advice. I'll re-upload when i get the sound i want, and let you hear it.

if you got a sequence in the timeline, take it and make it a bit earlier or later to the beat. thus shifting it a few milliseconds to the right or to the left. this little difference in the interval of bass and kick can cause to let the bassline jump out a bit. sorry for my bad ebglish

Oni Katsu, if you look in your sequencer you have the 3x 16th notes inbetween your 4/4 kick which is taking up the 1st 16th note. What davinksi is referring to is the note placement in relation to the 16th note grid lines....try taking the snap-to-grid function in your sequencer off, or remove the grid lines and nudge the bass notes forward or backwards just a hair and see how it affects the groove of your bass
if you use Ableton select a note and hold down ALT and hit your left and right arrow for very minor nudges.
As for making the bass jump out a bit more, make sure that its not getting muddied by other channels, try not to go overboard on FX and processing, and work on your mixing skills....from what I hear from other producers 90-95% of what makes pro bass so pro is the bass patch itself, not the processing - thats just extra sparkle.

That bass sounds like it has chorus applyed to it.
Try making it mono and use a single osc with a normal saw, no delays or modulation just separate the channel into 2 channels one controling sub freq. and the other controling high frequencies.
To the sub channel, (anything bellow 200Hz) apply limiting to give it fatness and wormth.
To the Hi freq. channel (anything above 200Hz) aplly distortion (quadrafuzz is my favourite) to give it a bit of an analogue feel and body.
You can also increasse the transcient of the low freq. to give that choping sub freq feel very used in darkpsy and night full on.
Sidechaining the low freq. channel to duck when the kick its is also a good technique.

oh, btw +1 for SoundToys Decapitator and Ableton 8.2's new Amp device...both are great tools for colouring your bass a little bit.
FerricTDS is also a great free plugin for gluing your kick and bass together on a group bus.

Well, this is what i have so far, i have removed the Voices since it had 7, thats probably what made it sound chorus'y
i sort of followed this tutorial as well, just suck with the sample editor when it comes to the bassfade part.
the bassline sounds pretty slow still even tho its a 148bpm track. and its sort of wobbly when i go from k bb to kbbb
Also here's what the envelopes look like
i'm not asking you guys to do this for me but if there is something being entirely wrong yell it out xD
edit: click on the image to enjoy this green badass in a larger version

So i tried it did'nt do much more than get out of the rythm really..
but thanks for the advice tho!
i't probably works well on the gallop type of bass just not with the low one!http://soundcloud.com/li-fe
I said I like it dirty, not muddy.

dont get to obsessed with the bassline but with the overall balance of the mix.
mister mister mister, the reason i'm working on just the bassline is because thats what i need to work with the most of all.
i'm never getting close to this sound unless
its not that i'm too obsessed with the bass, just way more my style to have a fat loud fullon bass. And when i just cant get the sound i have to work with it.
really this is just the bassline with some sounds around so that its kindof.. in-context.
