theres plenty of tutorials around, i use bazzism vst. but basicly its a sine wave with automated pitch from high to low very fast, then eq and maybe compress it. i dont think theres any secrets really.

No problem bro.I tried bazzism too but it lacks of control because it have only one envelope and you cant get modern psy kick without using 2 envelopes. It gives you more control and you can sculpt your kick click, body and sub and therefore you will use much less after processing while in bazzism you need to really eq that piercing mids to get some body ie knock.

i think it depends on what sort of sound your looking for in a kick, i know it does lack the second env, but iv had a few good kick outs of it that suit my tracks in the past, but i also use samples too sometimes. depends on what im makeing.

or slap a compressor with right settings behind it to get low end sounding right and more present

bazzism is good, I use it to but you have to knwo how to set it right, took me some time           https://soundcloud.com/noordzee-laborant

It's from another thread, but it covers the essential

in Bazzism you need to use the envelope behind it to fine tune the attack.... you click the buton ENV then the part of the envelope which you want to mess with to soft the attack ( clicky ) of the kick is beetween the very firsts ms of the kick ( around the 0.005 , 0.05 rectangules ) the sweet spot and size of the envelope depents of the lenght of the kick , there s no right or wrong but tune it till it sounds nice, create a notch in there and go ahead. also for more fine tune details you also could create notches in the center middle square so you can fine tune the mids. In the process of creating ur own kicks people are always worried bout how PUNCH AND LOW IT IS when the clicky is also a very imporant aspect of creatin ur own kicks coz it can be realy annoyin to the people listenin includin urself and for the people producin it can be realy ear fatigue and damage to the ears.

what you doin with the envelope is same as if you d put a equalizer to reduce with notch or peak the high frequencies of the kick but in the case of bazzism you will have a much more detailed fine tune with the envelope coz you will be controlling the progression of the frequencies and not doin a hole in the frequencies as the EQ would make it.

a nice kick in bazzism will leave out of it soundin already nice and smoth to the ears... you will use the eq in the kick to fit it into the mix not to fix the annoyin frequencies.

dunno man but some have been shared there recently maybe try to find the threads, or on the net i m sure you can find some..or in sample packs... it will be faster to just load bazzism or ultrabeat, a synth.. than looking for right sample.. but depend the type of kick you are after;.

lot of kicks are just a pitched sine..so i would say what matter the most is offource your monitoring and acoustic cause there is nothing really tricky a bit of eq and you should be there it can be a nightmare if your monitoring condition are not good

hey brothers,
i always try to develop my ability to make awesome kick and bass. and keep trying lol
Normally, i just find good sample and use them.
recently I've been trying to develop the kicks as follows:

First i create the snap/transient part of the kick. I open a instance of any sampler, drop a kick (sample or some kick that i synthesis) and use the pitch envelope ( u can use 2 here) and the amp envelope to shape this transient. U can EQ and compress if u want, or use transient shaper, some thing like that.

After i create the sub tail and mix with the snap. Here i can layer or use crossfades. just experiment and look for the best result.

THe next step i j ust layer some sounds that can give some body and full sounds. u can layer percussion, one shots, noises, hats, metal and whatever u like

i think its better cause u can shape the transient that give us a nice punch and modern kick drum.

what do u guyz think about that?

what i found out for myself is that having kick and bass in the same key or at least in harmonic relation is the first thing to head for.
i'm using bazzism. as already mentioned its a question of the envelope, compression and eq. although i have to say i only notch at the 500hz region normally thats it with eqing...
if you use ableton the overdrive can really smooth your kick set everything to zero the bandpass to the smallest position at the lowest place possible and turn up the dry/wet...
theres also another kicksynth but i forgot its name...

if you want to use sample here are the tsakicks...

@Agorit sounds intresting i gave up layering because i felt to stupid to get good results...
(how) do you tune the key?
