I think what you wrote lost some formatting when you posted it... I don't think it's lining up the way you intended. Try writing something like this:
kb-bk-b-kb-bk-b-
cause I can't figure out what you mean by how it's displaying. |

you probably aren't putting your kicks in the right places, it should be on 1,2,3,4 and usually depending on what your using there will be 3 spaces after each kick, you can place your bass notes in those and it should all fit in one measure.
like this
K_B_K_B_K_B_K_B_| K_B_K_B_K_B_K_B_|
hope that helps.
(man I always find my self hitting ctrl D to try and duplicate some text heh) |

quantize / snap .. enable envelopes ( kill , atack/release / full sustain) and place the notes (right lengths) properly ?

Do a 32nd note bassline at 70 bpm... or an 8th at 280.
I dont know why.. guess Im just happy to be here.
You should probably listen to some psy trance and then it should be pretty obvious. Or maybe I'm missing the point.
I guess if you think of 1 bar as 16 seperate incidents (counting from the left to the right), the kick will land on 1, 5, 9,13 and the bass on the 3, 7, 11, 15 but lasting for just under 2 incidents.
Get battery, sound forge and a VB-1, then get a calculator(?).
Or turn down the release or sustain on your amp envelope on the bass synth.
I believe in you! |

You are so confused
He means he's got a single bar pattern, but with the last bass note being too long to fit inside the bar. For example a note placed on the last 16th of the bar that's 2 16ths long will extend beyond the end of the bar, and thus get cut off at half its length (all music doesn't use 16ths basslines ). I have no idea if there's a more practical way to work around this than using longer bars as EYB suggested, however. |

Couldnt you do a 2 bar loop? And sidechain where the kick overlaps or something? Am I still confused... did I just make this worse... oh damn me! |

Conny, we can't read your mind. What "pattern" are you talking about? What sequencer are you using? What is stopping you from just overlaping the "patterns"? Are these separate audio samples that you place on a timeline? Are they sounds in a sampler that you trigger by MIDI? Is this one audio clip that is supposed to loop every 4 bar but is longer than 4 bars? Is there some kind of limitation in you sequencer that doesn't allow "patterns" to overlap? Etc etc.

I experimented a little, and you're right Colin. In Cubase notes do play for their full length regardless, except when looping is enabled and the bar is the last one in the sequence. That is, when the cursor loops back to the start of the sequence, whatever note is playing gets cut off. One could argue the logic of this, but either way it shouldn't be a problem during actual playback of the track.
So Conny, does it work if you clone the bar a few times and play the whole sequence? |

I don't understand the advantages of running a note from one bar into another? If there was another bar with a note starting from where the last one ended won't it be the same?
Am i missing something here?
Conny, to make things easier, can you please print screen you're problem?
It will help a bunch of us.
Thanks!

Don't all soft sequencers do this? |
