You can also try to pull your bass a little forward (few miliseconds) by changing the timing of the midi track. (in cubase can be done in the section left top section. http://www.harmony-central.com/Newp/2004/Cubase-SX3-project-lg.jpg
you see the timing clock on the left top corner? That one!
As others have suggested: an added 16th closed hihat with low volume can give the track some speed. Any percussion can be used actually for that perpuse and it doesnt have to be very loud to have that effect.

i use to play around with the track delay of my bassline and the percussions. this is can make a big difference and gives u the possibility to add some "faster" or "slower" feeling whenever u want and wherever u want. i like the mood created this way, cause can get some shizzophrenic style, while the track starts melancholic slow and gets really angry and fast during a while and back to the melancholic mood i.e.
as i work on ableton i also enjoy to play around with automatisation (?)in this area, cause its not that "agressive" like controlling the whole bpm of the track. its a slightly change with big results at the end.
so i can make my track sound really slow at 161 bpm and make it sound really fast with "only" 148 bpm by only changing the trackdelay of each, just few ms..... =D
enjoy
