That guy is making simply melodies for dance/house/electro.Let him use presets because all of it sounds the same.I didnt notice a cracked sylenth1 in the video like some ppl mentioned in the youtube comments.My take on this is that its good to venture out of Psy once in a while.Im going to school to learn how to be a film/game composer.I also work on ethnic jewish music in Israel and make psy and dubstep.The more things u know how to make can only help u.Staying in one genre gets boring.When i say Im a musician to someone i dont want to just mean psytrance i want to mean everything.I want to be able to recreate anything i hear in my head.Check this piece out that i made..it has classical elements...I never studied anyting about this style or listen to it much but i ventured out and want to open my opportunities in music.

@PoM thanks for the synthesis insight, but i think thats not the key since i should have the stuff that it takes to get close. im quite sure its the mixing where i lack. especialy advanced send effect usage eq and phase shifting...
i feel like i´d just need some sessions with a commercial pro and i´d get a super boost in production.
and im quite sure, this knowledge would boost my PSY production also alot. lets face it... its a bad ass production, and its quite rar to hear such skills in psy... since the psysceene isnt only $$$ which is a good thing!
i started to make psy because i felt there are no rules and i loved synths and melodies. but the last years commercial music changed alot (gaga...) and synths sounds are everywhere just in better quality now. im sure there is alot to learn from those $$ producions.

yeah i feel the same, i want to be able to produce no-noob-quality, i do not care about instruments and such...
here applies Grevinsky´s post (2nd), as he said you have to know/learn each style...
but at a certain level there should be this "i can make gold out everything", thats what i want to achieve... and its not about money for me.
for example voice... if im able to record Pop vocals i should be able to produce vocals for nearly every style... i just have to think about the different mixing in different situations.
kick and bass seems to be one of the most complicated things because there are more than one way for each style of music. but again, there are rules and if you know them, you should be able to mix/produce nearly every bass sound on earth.www.soundcloud.com/orgytime

Who is save the robot?
Commercial music is much more about markting than producing. If you think it's easy to get that famous you should try And it's A LOT of work to get that recognized, unless you are lucky enough to get a decent label that makes your crap into gold.

save the robot is quadra & alien project, ex-psy trance acts.
I don't care if they are sellouts.. but you can't deny that the production is TOP NOTCH.
the commercial world is crap. the more I know about it, the more it disguss me.
the weaks kingdom.. friends of friends, ass kissing, with lots of money going on.
along with the power to dictate the music trends.
something that it's better to stay away.
the real knowledge and talent is not on the commercial side.

dont laugh about my gay voice, my motherlanguage is not english rofl ... for the production, you will hear clicks and stuff, lazy work...

they just add plugins after plugins... and maximizers

nice try man sound promising, to critizice, your sound is more thin compared to their sound , it sound very itb (but their stuff is maybe itb too but have more dimension...but to me it s ever otb or made by someone with good skill, even if the mix i dont like much, you can feel the dimension and depth that is often lacking in itb production)
your sample sound like comign right from a daw, not their sound ,but i dont mean it s the case maybe it could be all itb depending the skill of the producer but personaly i doubt it as running the signal into some gears and using some synths can give that dimension effortless and they have the budget for it

to a first attempt is really good. you captured the vibe.
perfect the sound. find the right kick sample..
parallel compression, synth layering.
on the save the robot track, at 5:50m, the reverb on the blip sound is great. I wonder what they are using.
