Wouldn't work. First you need to hit record, then fire away.

Here's two ideas for you. Take a saw osc and tune it down maybe -24 to -36 semitones. Take a LFO and set it as a low rate (.36 hz) and assign it to the pitch of the saw osc. Have it modulate between 12 and 24 semitones, attach a HPF with mid-level resonance, and attach either the same or a different LFO to the cutoff.

Second idea:

Saw Wave OSC modulated by slightly high rate SINE LFO make sure it's not tempo synced. Send LFO to pitch, but try using a low amt, maybe 12 semitones or less. Keep sweeping the lfo rate till you get that wet squelch. Then start filtering Even if you don't get exactly the same sound you are looking for, you'll might be surprised at what you might find.

You are thinking about G2 when u are explaining this patch right?           VA - Spiritual Science out now!

Nope... I do this with about 5 or 6 different instruments.... I don't own a G2, I just make some patches for fun on the demo from time to time and record it.           An Eagle may soar, but Weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.

Can someone please post a link to Cybernetika's Dark FM Saw patch using z3ta? I am unable to download it from the kvraudio post...           "Do not try and bend the spoon. That's impossible. Instead, only try to realize the truth."
Neo: "What truth?"
Spoon Boy: "There is no spoon."

thanks mubali!

might I also recommend using a synth like massive that has a more "modular" method of assigning modulations.

in this way you can use envelopes rather than lfos to get a little more exact and clinical. not psychedelic? well I'm no expert (and I think lfos should work amazingly) I'm just noticing that I personally like digging in and knowing whats going on with timing (without calculating lfo rates).

and also if you can map/automate the decay and attack you can tweak away with those slopes to get more variations.

I know with my small modular eurorack it goes into "psy fart" territory VERY quickly.. and I think its because my main "control" module is MakeNoise Maths.. which happens to be a complex function generator.. its like an envelope, an lfo, an lfo, an envelope left to right with various ins and outs.. you can inbreed its ins and outs and send a single out to the pitch of an oscillator....... stinky stuff.

that said. I still can't ever get the sounds I'm looking for

sure you can use envelopes as well, but I kind of like the aspect of using lfos because if you don't have the lfo retrigger with note on, you can create multiple variations. I find envelopes are great for doing specific tasks where you only want it to do one particular thing, but sometimes for making variations of a sound lfo's can give you that added sonic flexibility. That being said I like to combine both. Also, you don't always have to calculate hz if you have syncable lfos, but I tend to find it to be more of a pain to determine envelope stage amounts. Somehow my brain doesn't really calculate time to bpm as well. This is why I prefer to use things that allow me to temposync just about everything. (Surge,Omnisphere) For me Massive is nice, but I don't get exactly the sounds I like from that as easily. Anything that has a mod matrix can do this job, but if you wanted to, you could just automate it by hand
