Hello,

I have found an nice tweaking/squeak sound on this video

(1:30 min)

I'have tried to build the Preset in my Vanguard.

http://www.acidfloor.de/goaTest.fxp

It is not perfect. I could not see anything on the video.

How can help to build tweaking/squeak dark-psy sound with Vanguard?

Many thanks

I can't read whatever waveforms they are, the video is awful resolution which renders the "tutorial" aspect of this video pretty low on the helpful scale in my book. Anyway, aside from that, looks like the rest is simple. Finding the waveform should be pretty easy too. And then finally tweak the envelope if needed.

Resonance all the way up, keytracking down, velocity tracking up, trancegate on, arp on, delay on, reverb on, a little bit of "fatness" in the form of stereo imaging and some glide should get you pretty damn close, though of some of that seems like it's not really needed for the sound he's making. I don't know though, just copy it as much as you can and if you know what everything on your synth does just make sure you understand why he's using it so you can apply that knowledge to other stuff in the future.

Hope that helps a little bit.

Edit: Just checked out your preset. All I did was add a second oscillator in the form of "Synced noise" and it pretty much sounds like the sound in the video to me. I think one of his waveforms was a noise one, maybe that's what you're missing? It gives it more body than what you had before which was sounding a little thin. I also added some sustain to envelope 1 which is your amp envelope, just out of personal taste because I wanted the arp to sustain. Maybe you know all this and it's all really obvious what I'm saying but hopefully it was at least a little helpful.

Thanks, glad you liked it.

Here's the preset I made. I mean, I didn't really make it, you made it, I just added one waveform and turned 2 knobs, the volume knob for the second waveform so it was audible and the sustain knob for the amp envelope which is the first envelope in case you didn't know, the second envelope is the filter envelope on Vanguard. Anyway, here's what I did.

Hope that helps you! Enjoy.

Sorry you didn't find the preset helpful.

It sounds almost exactly the same as the sound around 1:30 to me but perhaps my ear is not as trained as yours.

There's really nothing else I can do given the quality of the video, every parameter is identical to the video, out of the parameters that I can see. If it's not doing it for you, play with the envelopes perhaps, that's one of things I can't really see so maybe something is different in there.

I can't take you any further than this without a little more information to go off of, sorry. Good luck achieving your sound.

hey mate i don't mean any offense, but forget about a particular sound.

play with the synth. it doesn't have that many paramaters. find a preset that sounds close and just have fun. you'll get there, and if not, get something else. experiment!
