ok heres what i got
look at pattern 8 .....i cut it down to just one kick and stopped all the other tracks and then continued everything........its still not 100 percent perfect and i dont know why......i just tried it with two short kicks...it sounds better
and is there a way i can post the pic to the actual thread instead of linking it? |

well its wrong.
you added 1 more kick hit.. you need to remove 1 at the end it needs to be 7 kick hits instead of 8 the 8th kick hit will be the space.. you can leave the kick but remove the rest.
at least in your example track you posted earlier its like that..
your playlist looks out of the correct timing

If you work with audio you can silence everything perfectly, of course you can make it with midi but its more convenient with audio, im refering to leads that has effects on them and need to be faded and silenced for a good break

The placement of these breaks is also important. To give it a logical feel put them just before the next 16 bars.. so if you want a little break start it at 64 for example and continue with full kick/ bass at 65. Work/ think in 8 and 16 bars to start with. That gives you a good structure. After that you can do alot of different things of course

You have to take away element from THE LAST BAR of your 8 or 16 bar loops. A common mistake is to "make stop" at the first bar of the new coming section...
Take a look, for example at how rock players do drum fills AT THE END of a section. It can be the whole 4/4 or 2/4 or 1/4 it will work nice.
In dj sets we use this "stops" as a tool to bring in element of the track once is mixing in so make sure you keep ur audience interested after the pause.
Perfect for this "stops" are stuff like: voice samples, automated lfos, chopped / glitched leads, fx, reverse noise, etc. |

whats with all the mute plugins, exported files and edits after etc..???

mute is useful if you want to mute not just the kick/bassline, but also instruments with long release.
I don't like the exported file editing method, because if you want to change something less minor in the track later, you have to go back, and do all the mute edits again, after you made the changes.

True dat. But at cubase, u can "fool" the daw by naming new exported file to same name as previous, so all what is not done by offline-editing, will remain in song. |

I personally am a huge fan of leaving a lead or a cool new sound you're introducing in this space at the end of your loop, especially if it was kind of hard to hear it in the mix before the silence + sound you're creating...
or just remove the drums, or the bass and do a little kick roll...
just imo don't make it too long or you run the risk of breaking the momentum and energy of the track ):

Stops in dark psy are very interesting. I always wondered how they achieved it You can hear this in a lot of KDD and Furious tracks.
For instance you would hear the kicks speeding up to 1/64 notes etc and then nothing and probably a little more speed down speed up kicks and it would sound nice. I wonder if this is drawn on the sequencer or if they use a sampled kick in an arpeggiator etc

If I got your description of this trick right, you can do something similar with the retrigger fx of dblue glitch.
