There's no "specific darkpsy bass" but there are some key factors I guess.
Lower cutoff, fast release, short sustain and short decay.

You should ask your question more specific, not just spit out something and except everyone to work hard for you. Give a youtube link or something, and ask like, how do i make this kind of bass. Does anyone know how he made this bass sound etc..
And people will tell you more detailed. Becouse, the best answere for your question now actually is, us a VSTi.

I think there is no difference in making a fullon style. Or are you asking for the sound to get darker in emotions I guess you wan't to know the notes placements and progressions to make it more darker?

I think the guy means those fast, low, tight bass sounds rather than the notes lads to be fair. I find that a tough sound to get right.

low octave , tight amp envelop and tight cutoff modulation...
its very hard to get coz low octaves are kind hard to get stable for the very quick bass note...
also a little bit of drive helps...
u gotta practice a lot to get the envelopes right...
and the source of the synth s very important as well... not all the synths are capable of doin those low octaves very well(35 hz as exempla)
and another important thing is the placement of the notes...use 1/32 th and play with the start and end of the lenght til u get it fited.. http://soundcloud.com/bgos

As the Wizack already have said we have to hear .
Theres many ways to make an Darkpsy bass , Most of them are in the 'Mother of all bassline' (In this section) . There no point every week to open an new topic when today is the hadeline 'How to make an massive bass ?' And tomorrow we are seeing 'How to make bass be sound deepr & larger ? (If you got me) .
Actually Vermeee right when he said 'Low octave' (This must be the final result - By hearing) But this not have to be start with it .. (And ill explain ..) If you want a realy deep bassline dont start with an 'Low octave' immediately , Sure 95% of the all producers i know doing that , I dont say its wrong , This in normal .. All doing that but this is not the point .. The point is that if you are taking an 'High note' (Go high .. Dont be afraid theres many other options and effects to bring it be down later (When we tuch this point later) But now we need it 'High' (For beginning) - Not to high to deaf but sure somthing high) , Now .. Lets take/Open for example 'Alien 303' And we can see we have in there the 'Fine' button , Under the 'Fine' button you have (From up do down at this order) +4 , +3 , +2 , +1 , 0 , -1 , -2 , -3 , -4 Right ? , Ok .. So now choose one (Lets say from the minuse - Because we already up so we want take it down , Can be good for Dark , And inverse - If we took .. And before down down down As Vermeee wrote so at this our we take all higher to the +'s then we can get an great deep Fullon bass - Will sure not will be at the other one with the minus but will fit 100% to those hwo like it different) , And again at this point im talking about how to create the space inside and not about how it will be sound at the end but will tuch this point later too . Now you find the right sound you want by doing what i wrote , I hope you (Now) Understand that this is all about frequencys .. So theres no any point to limiting your self from begining with an low note when this is not solve you nothing , Its cool and nice but u can get more when open it more from both side - Then : 1 . Your sound (The sound not where site in your track) are 'Siting' in the middle 2 . He got more power and air . 3 . Dominant , Deep , Massive and spacey (Cause we arrange it be like this , We dont just put it 'Down ocatav' like that)
And after good eq put some R bass or may better Xbass 4000 or somthing will complete the all picture .
But go to 'Mother of ..' Youll find in there alots of an interesting useful tips .

What you said its true .. From some reasons (But sure will not get into again .. We have 'Jump' already some artists to the ceiling and i dont want to repeat that again any more even if its right and true)
But ill point on the most important thing i think will happen at an speedish one (And you dont know how much you right Icetoon) - And you , (And again) .. Bring here and great example ! .
Sure .. In high bpm (When you OPEN The base of the track - The Baselline to much , High and low , And to the sides - When imo the way its all should be done ) All sounds (Bass in this case) will 'Fuckt up' for sure (No debate ! Fact !!!) , and spread like a 'Liquid butter' with an no air to hold and hug the track .

This is why theres 2 (Popular) Kind of Bass's out there in the Dark style , Never (Ever) heard specific name who separate (In any way) Beetween both , And this *** Screaming .. *** Feeling in the air (When all are feel and see and heard .. But not do nothing .. Yea .. We say 'Light' and those to respect and be nice .. - When this is important too) But if you ask me .. I decide not to be fake .. And say what i think in the face .. And say what all others already know but so afraid to say : THE KING IS NAKED !!! . So i have the skinny 'Toy dark' and the 'Real dark' and no one cant/Will convince me .. ! . Its just cant be ..
But we should keep and love each for his world giving and effort and thats what we realy need in our great community .
And if you hear/Listen the other/The different .. Will help you alot to understand 'Who are you' , And to improve youself to be better ...
