Hi guys, am trying to make a zap using sylenth but the sound is very muddy and without energy. I used a saw tooth wave and assigned a quick pitch change to an LFO and a bit of distortion and phaser.
I will be very greatful if someone can teach me how to make a zap like for example the one in Mechanimal psy trance pack. Its very clean and energetic. Anyone have an idea of how to do this please?
Thanks mate...

never heard of the artist you mentioned though, but if you want a clean zap you'd want to use a sine wave instead of saw.
--
init patch
put a sine wave on oscillator A
go to envelopes down on the left and assign a Pitch A to one of the open slots
put the assigned knob at 3'o clock or so
pull the decay to your liking
--
that should give you a clean zap. not sure what you would define as a zap, but thats my idea of it anyway. hope it helps. |

Maybe you should post a sample and so we get the idea of what you mean with the zap sound. |

The key to such sounds are low saw waves, high resonance and LFO or envelope modulation on pitch. To further pronnounce the sound you need to use distorsion.
I you wont manage to get it right send me a pm, I have few of such sounds in zebra, but I could probably also make it in absynth, massive or fm8. But I dont use sylenth unfortunatly... |
