in India we are finally beginning to experiment with psychill rooms.

but since it hasnt been done before, most promoters are unaware of how to go about it...can u pls point me to a source, or give some tips, keeping in mind that this is the beginnng of the phase...

for now, chill sessions always accompany proper psy acts...my questions are both for indoor and outdoor -

Outdoor
- should a chillroom have its own sound? if this is not posible, how best to go about it
- should entry be charged seperately or all together
- what is the best time to keep a chillroom going, given the party starts at 11 pm and ends at 9-11 am

Indoor
- Seperate entries again?
- Time? - clubs in India shut at 1 pm, though since we are nowdays doing Sunday gigs, they start at 6 pm
- is it advisable to keep the bar 'only' in the chill room to promote it or will it backfire

any help and general advise would be most appreciated...          helping apple pies take over the world since Damion predicted so

hey baba ...i decided to put this up after the 26th ...but anyways here what i think

comming to the point and keeping the indian psy crowd in mind

OUTDOOR -
-If Seperate Sound - 3:30AM Onwards till morning (depends on the crowd) ...cos outdoors start kicking off around 2:30 onwards

-No seperate sound (mainfloor chillset) - 8:30AM onwards till 11 if its a open floor as it can get really hot by 10

-Entry - no way it should be seperate ....u pay at the gate and access all areas

INDOOR
-Entry - again the same thing ...no way seperate entry
-keeping the sunday gigs in mind i think 8:00-11:30 or so shld be fine ...
-well iam game if the bar's only at the chillout area

we got our first psychill room for a kindzadza and zik gig this 26th where i would be spinning some chillers ....i just hope all goes well           New mixes on

OUTDOOR
-No point keeping seperate music atleast as of now, there l be very few visiting the chill area and chilling here... its all dark or fullon!(if seperate sound is kept I dont know how entry would work out, the entry for the party it self would probably be little more than usual to include the chill scene)
My idea is play chill in main area ... and hook some psy heads to some real nice chill out -they'l know what theyve been missing yet!

-personally, Id love to hear some chill at about 5 am till sunrise , it l shape up the day, some aes dana would even make a few dance , but then again If there is no seperate sound, from 12 - 3 am a party should start off with chill, and get canned with chill played for about an hour ... there l be a lot of smiles flowing if chill be played in the morning at about 8-9.. more people open up and chill out to the music!

chek out some of these sets.. makes me wish i was there right now!

INDOOR
-indoors, I guess its totally up to organisers, but yeah like in rock bottom there is that smaller room being used on 26th, something like that would be nice, (espeacially if the bar area is in the chill room would really work out well!) but then again, we would have to wait untill after the gig to see how many people really came and liked the music... so that we can have more such gigs and maybe some day we can have bluetech play around here..
-again defenitely no seperate entry, for me and most of us entry is what hurts at indoor gigs, with no cover offered, a lot of dosh is spent up
and time would gain be up to orgs, indoor time does not really matter much, its on the turnout!

Nothing is said that has not been said before.

I've seen a bunch of different set ups"

One party I was at there was the main stage and then a forest path took you to a little cleared out area where the chill space was. This was nice because if you needed a break from dancing you could walk to the chillout area and be in a completely seperate world from the main floor. People could sit and talk, smoke, spin, whatever. The soundsystem
was seperate, but just as good as the main floor.

Seocnd party I went to there was no chill space per se, but as people were getting ready for the night, setting up camp sites and other stuff, one of the DJ's played a nice chill set for about an hour or so-then handed it off to the first DJ to start off the night.

I think if you do create a seperate space, there's absolutely NO justification for making it a seperate entry fee-that's got to be the most absurd thing I've ever heard of. Do people REALLY DO THAT? Also, sound should be, if not as loud, at least as clear and as crisp as the main floor. A soft area of the ground, or something to allow people to sit comfortably. Deco should be minimal but a few pieces of string art or stretched lycra pieces, and maybe a tapestry would work well.
Maybe some tiki torches..depends on space and what works for the area.
