If kick and bass overlap it is an option. Not a must.. but a rather easy solution

find out how you yourself like it or if you really like it, how it sounds with sidechaining. I mostly love sidechaining on all other but not kick and bass, but that's a matter of taste. And if the notes are overlaping there is sometimes no other alternative or you have to cut and fade out on all kicks or all bass notes so they don't overlap.

changed the kick and ehtnik mantis helped me creating a basic bass( which I made some tweaks)

thanks etnis.

EDIT: why the first kick sounds higher then the others?

Try bv1 that's a really good and deep bass for dark specially, or really fast tempo tracks, Try cutting your noises and get some delay on them, It will start sounding really foresty, sinth1 is a really good vst.

You could try G-Sonique-XBass4000 to fatten the bass and a bit of reverb for the kick...

this lies on not appropriate compressor settings.. check attack and release..you mean that the first kick is the loudest I assume or has the highest peak .

I agree with time traveller, sidechain is useful if your business is too busy, well, you know what i mean, and i also agree with bipolar, delay some noises and pitch'em down (careful) and you have some nice ambients in your tunes.

try to make good music first using the bassline as you can handle it, and then with work, with years of experience you will become better, when you understand how to use compressors and mix correctly...

10 years ago there was incredible music with slow basslines, but the sound was intesting because the music had content, they had intersting percussive and cultural elements on... nowadays newbies like you instead of making good music, aparently are worried about in learning a suposed working formula...

thats wrong, and your not trying to be an artist because you enjoy music, your just another guy wanting the lightspot, wanting to be DJ because you think it will bring you money, girls, status bla bla bla...

otherwise if it was just for music, you would simply do it, you wouldnt bother in came to foruns ask formulas, you would do the normal learning curve by your self, but no, your greedy, you want to be an "artist" the fastest you can, so you want to make a formula today, you want to perform in partys tomorrow...

thats completly wrong, anf if you chose to go that way, you will fail for sure...

my advice is simple; before pretending to be an artist, try to be one, learn music, make music and then make trance, because to produce good trance you need to be a good musitian first

jajaja give this guy a break ricciardo, people start to produce where they want, music theory, synthesis, chords, etc... there is no right way to learn to produce its very subjective, and no matter what type of music you produce its always a good idea to copy other artists or cover other artists, that way you know how they made a song, the techinques used, the chord progressions, scales etc, etc. This is something that every musician did when they started, if you dissagree ask the guys from pink floyd they started jaming to miles davis jojojo

Assuming you know his motivations based on one question about how he can get a 'night feel' to his tracks is folly. And very presumptious. Also, what the heck is the entire point of this forum? It's to help people who want to learn. If you don't have something positive to contribute, and instead are just going to be all negative and 'you should figure it all out yourself and reinvent the wheel', then, IMHO, you should just shut up.

@ricciardo... some good advices though... lol... now back to the subject and lets pretend that you haven't said anything.

-------------------------

for my taste you really have nice tunes and ambient panike but it reminds me much more fullon than dark. i would try to work on lower notes, bringing same more that minimalist feeling; i mean not so many layers, not using too many effects. not great bass constructions, more simple... imho. if you have a chance check this out:

i was only direct to the point, told him exacly what i think and what he should do to be really good

if someone expects to be good by just emulating a bassline is truely wrong

the only negativity around here is when you say someone to shut up, just because you dont like their aproach

but i belive you may be upset because you felt that my point it also concerns you...

well. in that case... my advice to panike, it can be also to you
