sorry dude, im not exactly sure what you mean.

(1) do you mean play the sounds that are built in to the card, ie: in the onbaord memory?
to do this you gotta just use a sequencer, and set on a midi channel the patch from the soundcard you want to play back (but the midi instrument set up in the sequencer will have to be the soundcards own playback for onboard patches)
(2) do you want to load other smaples in to its memory? im not familiar with the SB live, but you should have received with it software for it, including a patch controller. it should just be a matter of going in to the respective programme (itll be some kind of memory manager) and in it there will be an option to load in a wav file and convert it in to a pacth. you should be able to load lots of wav files to create ots of instruments, and then save them as a bank, which you can load in to the soundcards memory through this same program. the program should let you set a default patch to be loaded in to its memory when you boot the computer up. however, the number of instrumenst you can save in a bank will depend on the size of the wav files loaded in, as your sound card will only have a limited memory.

hope this helps

sblive uses soundfonts.they are loaded into ram.
if the question is about sf2 usage - get vienna soundfont manager, and play with it.
