i came to the place when i fill my sound is good enough to spread my music out but i'm not sure if my music and sound is unique enough. furthermore i don't know if my tracks has something that feature them.
every track of mine can be totaly different story. which is interesting but still when i listen to albums of any musician at every genre, he has something that feature him.
i'm sure i'm not the only one to have this problem. most of the artists don't realy have unique sound, but i want to have
most of you don't have unique sound either.

i thought if i would use same few basslines at my track, and same few kicks. and use same plugins at my mix. and same mixing technics, so maybe i would have kind of my own sound. but i still think maybe i need little bit more than that. some famous artists even use same leads all the time. but i don't like it. it's a bit boring for me.
so i would like to know what do you think about it and do you have an ideas what makes somebody's sound special and interesting

As long as you're not actually copying someone else's track, whatever you write will sound like 'you' in some way. If it sounds a lot like 'you', and your production and ideas are good, you have a chance of standing out amongst everyone else who also sounds like 'themselves', and my advice is to wait until your music sounds enough like 'you' to be totally distinctive before you start to spread your music, otherwise people will just see you as another wannabe copy/paster.           Mastering - http://mastering.OOOD.net :: www.is.gd/mastering

You can do this by not being one of those ppl who post a "how do I make this sound" thread. . I have people tell me some of my music sounds similar to artists I don't even listen to, so it's pretty subjective to the listener.          http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

Do it with hearth and forget what has been created, search for the sounds that would inspire your very innerself...This is the right way to make music in my opinion...

They way I go about this is not using any presets whatsoever.
Make my own kicks from scratch and try to make a new one for every single tune, even though I have a couple that "work" I need to try out new things to figure new kicks that will "work" even better. This process is of up most importance if I want to train my ears and getting to know more details about synth settings, EQ, compression...etc
Make my own bass patches from scratch and try to make new ones for every single tune, even though I have a few that "work" I need to try out new things and since I am making a new kick for every tune, I explore even further my understanding of making matching kick and bss sounds for a particular tempo/scale...etc Again...This process is of up most importance if I want to train my ears and getting to know more details about synth settings, EQ, compression...etc

Make every single lead from an init patch. A kick is a kick and a sawtooth bassline is a sawtooth bassline, the lead work can really help someone stand out from the preset brigade and for me psy-trance is as much about sound design, as it is about what note and when you'll play it.

Obviously this is a double edged sword for two main reasons:
1. It takes a lot more effort, brains, ears and time to get your own synth sounds up to scratch. I have released music that I listen today and I don't need to reach deep down inside to realize it is far less than perfect. But I don't regret doing so, if I don't fuck up, I will not teach my self more things.
I am not the kind of person that will wait until I make the "perfect" tune to release it. I just get on with making new tunes cause I enjoy a lot more making new music, than working for two years on one arrangement/mix.
2. People (since you are talking about releasing music that will generate interest) just want to listen to the same sounds all over again. Deviate from that path and you'll get a lot of your music is boring/sucks...etc.

Just make sure you enjoy the process of making music, not the potential praise from your potential future tunes and you'll get there.

i m afraid that if you ask someone how to make your own unique sound, and if someone answer it to you, than it is no more unique...

unique sound i think come after taking your own path on music production, practice and experimentation on your own vision, ideas, and yes i m also afraid that it take a lot of time, to me, and to you.

peace

I think that as long as you can feel your music as a reflection of yourself it is intrinsically unique (no matter what anyone tells you).           http://soundcloud.com/ascensionsound

there's a reduced number of artists with a unique music signature..
when you ear it you know who produced the tune.
and that's amazing.
I think everyone should stick to that!

sometimes, when you're on the scene it's difficult to be diferent.. specially if you learned to produce with someone.
it's not impossible.. O_o
as you progress you get your own methods... and may even end up working on totally different way from everyone else, which is good.

keep up with your style.

Well, yeah - you may end up on the wrong tail of that famous bell curve

I always wondered: when you take a multiple-choice test, where each question has 5 answers to choose from - who are those people scoring less than 20%?!

thanks to all your answeres. another thing that came to my mind is that sometimes artists too much use the same sounds and same structure of the track and then it's becomes boring. the line between unique sound and boring music seems to be a bit short.
till know i didn't think about unique sound, i just tried to achieve good sound and do my best at the creative side. i'm not sure if should i think about having uniqe sound or should i just do what i like to do every track and that's it. what i didn't said that also i'm not sure 100% on my style. i do fullon. but 1 track can be very morning and another track can be close to dark, with much psychedelic sounds. do you think is it bad?
