how to get heard by labels?

hi, i know most labels have email or soundcloud dropbox for demos but im willing to bet that most labels, esp the bigger ones, get so many demos that they dont bother listening to them, thoughts? |

Upload on soundcloud, then post your new music on facebook. Be gentle about it, there is a fine line between letting people know about your music, and spamming.
Its hard to get on the very big labels, my guess is that they mostly work with people that are familiar to the label owners. But that is just a guess.
Most of all, the music has to appeal to the labels in question.

Soundcloud and facebook worked for me just fine.
Lots of label people spend time on there.
I am not on any massive labels but respected/established ones and new ones.

get in touch with the labels , tell you work on some tunes and ask them if they might be intrested to release if the music suit them.
like nectarios said try to get familiar with some label owners. |

Yeah facebook and soundcloud are fine. Most labels don't even have their own websites, and sometimes it's very hard to find contacts for the labels you want.
I got onto Triplag through Soundcloud. Vic commented on a track of mine, we got to chatting and I ended up releasing an album with them.
But yeah, I think you have to be in the loop. Bigger labels seem to release stuff from people in their circle.
How to become part of those circles? Chat on facebook.

Of course if you can send some mastered tracks through a labels contact, do that and see what pops up. Good luck mate!

Some do, some don't. The ones that do and like the sample you've put up (by all means, do not put a full track on soundcloud if you want to release later anyway), will release the tune that is on there.
The ones that don't will tell you to make new tracks for them and let them have a listen before hand.
In any case, if you are just starting, you need to let people know that you are making music.
If some tunes only serve as a "bait" for labels, so be it... you'll make tons of new tracks in the future anyway.

And just got word I am on the next Phantasm Records VA. Always wanted to get music out on this legendary label. Big up the stupid facebook, did the trick once again.
