and i think that you need to hold ctrl+option keys on
startup untill you see a message like "are you shure you
want to rebuild your desktop file? all comments will be lost"
So, don't give a f*** about those damn comments and
press enter.
Anyway if you have at least 512mb free space on your hd -
installing norton and defraging - it's a waste of time and space.
p.s. i'm talking about OS9 and pre-OSX operating systems.

Do NOT use any norton products on your mac. Don't use any defrag software. For maintenance just use mac janitor (freeware) and Disk Warrior (payware). Also, keep your permissions repaired from time to time with disk utility. |

hello there maate , the osx and apple guys , advise u to dont use optmizing software on your disk , like defrags etc , osxx do it by itself like dma sayed , and each timme u install aa program for ex , he make u a disc optimization , so everything is always well located on your hard disc

Well, mac janitor is not optimization software. It is a GUI for some tedious terminal commands. And Disk Warrior can really save you when you turn on your mac and get the question mark. Also it keeps an eye on you hard drive's smart status and will notify you days in advance if your hard drive is going to fail. I do agree that you should not use optimization software (such as Onyx, plus there are a few others). And never, ever use anything made by Norton on a mac. Any mac pro will tell you that. |
