My advice is don't focus too much on getting that phat bass... it'll just end up in frustration when you don't know what your doing... experiment with as much as the fruity loop features as you can, so that you have a good grasp of the software. Learn about compression , filters, EQing, and how synths work... by reading threads on isratrance or finding articles on the web. Listen analytically to trance tracks to get inspiration and to have an idea of what to do. But basicly just play around with FL studio and make lots of songs, you'll eventually get somewhere.
Row row row your boats gently down the stream; merrily merrily merrily merrily life is but a dream. |

if u know a person who is into this, it will be much more easy for you.
but i think learning by yourself will pay off eventually! and its more fun for sure!!

If you dont know how to use fl then it sould take you about 8months of making trash to start doing anything usefull. but from then on things just get prettyer and prettyer.
If you want a little boost start try this:
Ajust your song settings to 32bars(you will have more freedom)
Put the bpm at 145
On your explore bar find the symsinth. Theres great effects, leads and bass in there.
find a good bass, and put it like Sound Surgeon said (K-B-B-B-K-B-B-B). Then you just have to play around with the "B"'s.Take it out, change the note, do whay ever you want. The more original it is the better the bassline. But trance isnt only a bassline..this is just the beggining. My advice is to try to find the chorus first, the you can work it up to it or go on from there. Just play around.
But the best advice i can give you is to LISTEN to what YOUR making and what OTHERS are making. The trance you listen to is always you teacher |

yes, i agree with knocz, i started with reason, after 1 mouth i jump to cubase, and and just after 4mouths was when i could make the first good kick+bass , nowdays i never finished a track cause i prefer playing with cubase while i'm learning then making 1000tracks by week, but all of them shity music, my amateur tip is work work and work, and when u feel that u got knowdlege to do track, go go and boooooooom

but not finishing a project is bad ... even if it sucks u should continue it :x
or else u will enter an infinite loop of unfinished projects ... :\
work, work, work, doing the tracks, thats the way for u to define your style and your techniq imo ..
stay good

Hey cr1st0!!
First of all even i am a beginner like you man, been making music for about 6-7 months now. So, after reading this post if you feel i'm talking nonsense feel free to tell me to Fuck off!
I started on fruity as well and i din;t know jack shit when i started.
what i did for the 1st month was just read the manual provided by fruity. Just read the whole damn thing and if you dont understand any word or anything just ask here. Lots of help availabe here on this forum!
Then once you've finished the manual(which is really easy to understand!) go through the pre made tracks in fruity. it'll give you a real good idea how to structure your track and most impotatntly it will give you a fair idea about how much work goes into making a psy track. I think it also comes with those audio visual tutorials, DO THOSE! They're of great help. its a MUST DO thing!
All this should take you about 2 months
After that get MikeA's bassline tutorial and see if you understand what he does there. Forget about the "killerness" just get that basic rhythm going. Have Patience and all the other things will slowly fall into place.
When you get your first kick and bassline going the feeling is something else man!
Good Luck and most importantly ENJOY!!

For the time being, go to the nano records website and d/l their kicks and some percussion.
first a get a feel for making a track and then slowly move onto bigger things. just my humble opinion.
Once Pavel shared some of his Kicks, they're "KICK"ass! Check the mother if all Kicks thread. you'll find something there.
then there was someone who started a kick exchange thread, check that out as well. Very nice but i don't know if that exhchange thing is still working.
Then if you go to the Psy-Forum.co.uk website, there is a link by someone where he teraches you to make a kick from start in trianlge II which is a free vst. see if you can understand that.
If not, Try Stomper.
Just look around here theres loads of topics about kicks and basically everything you need to know about production..
LOOK LOOK LOOK.....
Enjoy!
