Bounce audio channels (stems). Send them over. |

Sucks, really.. if your friend does not like your melodies, then he is fucked :S If everything is rendered to wave, then collaboration is somehow dead in itself
How about you two guys just get similar setups? You'd need similar VSTs anyways. Bite the lemon and make some compromises amonst the two of you to finally end up with a setup you both like and install

Well there are certain limits, if you want full freedom just use same DAW and VST.
Stem send is a very good option. Also I don't like other people changing my melodies and if I would I'd send the midi file.
In different DAW collab work I like making some parts then partner makes some others respecting each one's work, maybe just muting something if we don't like it and replacing it or asking buddy to do so.
These are just ideas man... nothing just suck, special circumstances require special measures. |

thanx for the answers. So the best way is to have similar daws and plugins. Otherwise i will loose lots of time sampling everything up to wav stems, rar them up and send.
next question.
What's the most amusing way to work together with other people on the net. kind of a working order or something like that.
sry for bad ebglish...

..I have to add to in addition to my previous post - I ment the situation where you are in the same place with the other producer/sequencer; the best situation of making a fusion between two sequencers is mmc or rewire.
The online services I heard about these too but no expirience, so I'd go for the standard audio stems.Greets

i know this isnt gonna be the easiest or most useful...but i have done stuff liek this in the past and i hope it helps..
it'll be easier to do this on something like ableton live since the included plugins will be common
first irrespective of platform (win/mac) find out what plugins you'll have in common & make sure you'll use only those...also make sure youll are on the same version of the DAW...otherwise you will get errors...use collect all and save...and you'll can use dropbox to send and receive files.
on different DAW's it gets harder...like logic & cubase....but they both support OMF (open media framework) this will be helpful but only to a certain extent...it cannot export all the attributes of a project...so you will have to make notes about eq's & other such settings as well as instruments used.
you will also have to bounce all the MIDI in the project as a separate file since OMF doesnt export MIDI.
but what it will save you is some time & a lot of drive space as compared to bouncing WAV files of your entire project.
i recommend trying out OMF to find out its capabilities & limitations.
i can explain it to you...but i cannot understand it for you... |

If you are in the same studio with who ever it is you are collaborating with, just decide which one DAW you will use and go ahead with the music making.
When other people come to my studio to make music, we just use Logic and all my software/hardware to make the tune. I generally tend to work very fast and know the software and hardware I use, inside out... which allows for both of the brains used to get more ideas put down effectively.
Peace out.

I agree this is how I do in such cases too It‘s better to work stable & fast - with one sequencer. Just in case the threadsetter would like to, it‘s possible to let all sequencers flow together in sync mode.
